what's the best imageboard software? I like TinyIB but nothing works with my server

Speaking of which, how is your DDOS protection, if any?

Well what IBs do we have?

<Old guard PHP stuff

>Futaba Script

>Futallaby and descendants

>Tinyboard/NPF Chan/Infinity/OpenIB family

You probably don't want to use one of those, they tend to have horrible code, but on the other hand they are the comfiest IBs from the user perspective, they have the good old UI anons have known and loved for years.

<More modern projects

>Lynxchan

>JSChan

>Meguca

Lynxchan is widely used, so you'll probably have the best support for it. It is technologically superior but I don't really like it. It also lacks some features older IBs have. It uses node/MongoDB so it should be distributable and scalable, but according to many it's not as efficient as it could be.

JsChan is a relatively new project I don't know much about, I think fatchan was using it.

Meguca is, well, meguca. The release version is the easiest thing ever to set up, just clone the repo docker-compose. It really comes down to whether you like liveboards or not.

Which ones did I forget?

because of the julay.world dump. These are AIUI the creeps who helped hotwheels attack this site.

and yeah I've occasionally seen dumps that argue that Jim's a villain as well, but

1. Jim *really* doesn't come off as a villain

2. every time I checked on hotwheels he was upset about qtards or the name change or similarly irrelevant shit, instead of about any real villainy

Yeah it's coordinated shilling by HW, people from /intl/the Alt Chan federation like Nanomaid, journalists who want to stop /pol/, and a few others.

8chan did have a few security fuckups, like a former admin leaking its DB, but that was a while ago and you can probably blame that as much on HW.

I'm trying to set up Xubuntu to replace Wangblows 10, I've done everything I can for now until I get my server working again but the one issue I'm running into is that any refresh rate about 60Hz for my 144Hz monitor produces a massive flickering effect that I can't find any information on.

I'm using nouveau with a GTX 960.

I can't fucking stand Thinkpads.

they have this little 14-inch screen

You have to be a midget to use one

and you can't have stubby fat fingers either

So what - use one for a toaster

shitty ram

shitty CPU

run Linux without a DE because that's all it can handle

fuck that

I can get at least a 15.6 inch screen

or a 17.3 inch screen with 104 keys

better cpu

better gpu

more ram - because i can actually fit more into it

and I don't have to worry about having bratwurst fingers

I'm 6'7" for fuck's sake

I also can do better than a poorfag with a thinkpad

so, fuck thinkpads.

I hate that they are laptops, a desktop is always better. But when it comes to laptops, there is basically nothing better than old thinkpads. Too many people know now though, they're starting to get more expensive.

>probably doesn't work that well with Linux or BSD

if you've got a hardware dock you can just drop the thing on your desk and use the incredibly cheap, incredibly large monitor(s plural) that you have on multiple mounts around the desk.

I just want someone to remake the Dell XPS 12 2950, i.e. the only good one. shit for your lap, but using a laptop productively on your lap is a waste of time anyway.

Be careful of blockchain ICOs. This big data Singaporean company DATAVLT collected 8 mil. USD in Chinese investors' money and then went radio silent. Then after 6 months they sent this notice to the investors.

I don't know anything about this, but I don't believe they actually sent that. Some memester on twatter cooked it up post facto to make light of the situation. The "investors" (speculators) are probably screwed, but that true for basically every ICO.
