2. every time I checked on hotwheels he was upset about qtards or the name change or similarly irrelevant shit, instead of about any real villainy

Yeah it's coordinated shilling by HW, people from /intl/the Alt Chan federation like Nanomaid, journalists who want to stop /pol/, and a few others.

8chan did have a few security fuckups, like a former admin leaking its DB, but that was a while ago and you can probably blame that as much on HW.
