A concern about covid testing, if it’s using dna then is it being used to gather dna from citizens unknowingly? Is it being stored in a huge data base somewhere? What becomes of it?

I don't know how long you can preserve a spit sample, anon. I also don't know how you would make a digital copy your dna, nor how many floppy drives it would take up

I'm not sure how expensive it is to sequence DNA these days, but they'd probably have to get it done within a day or so of taking the sample, since this isn't a detective show and it's not being used merely for identification purposes.
As to the OP's question, yes, they're probably storing everything they can and just waiting until it becomes useful.
