They hardly sell anymore video games. They mostly sell toys and trading cards in 2026. 15 to 20 years ago, they sold video games. In 2026, they just sell toys and trading cards. I don't think many stores sell physical copies of video games besides Walmart these days.

why would anyone want to own a digital copy of a game if you can't own something digital?

You can. You own digital anime. Access is ownership. I have many digital games and pictures. I have digital money.

so I assume you are using a netbook rather than a laptop? I think most laptops have at least a 500 gigabyte hard drive.

Their whole reason for not selling games is their own stupidity
They open the games first. They do this so that you can’t resell them and profit off of the “pro” discount potentially. It’s why they also don’t sell most items over 200$, it would pay for the garbage discount itself. They of course pretend that this is somehow a reflection of gaming dying, because admitting they are fucking stupid shitskins who can’t run a business is too hard.

So GameStop is not as prevalent as it used to be and it needs our support to stay afloat and keep local locations in business. Unfortunately, it is true that they don't sell as many games as they used to, and they are unwisely NOT matching Amazon and Walmart in selling preordered physical Switch 2 games at the digital price. That is literally the ONLY reason I'm getting most of my games from Walmart or digitally compared to buying them from GameStop and supporting gamer community infrastructure.
I would highly encourage everyone here to shop at GameStop sometimes and get whatever you like that's a good deal, because we need GameStops as third spaces for gaming enthusiasts.
