I have bipolar disorder and I’ve been told by my psychiatrist that I have some psychopathic tendencies. Something that has been happening to me is that I sometimes experience intense episodes of dissociation, especially when I’m without my medication.
When it happens, I feel disconnected from reality and sometimes like I’m outside of my own body. It can feel really strange and unsettling, like I’m watching myself rather than actually being myself.
Is this something that can happen with bipolar disorder, or could it be related to something else? Does anyone else experience this, especially when they stop taking their medication?

>>158611 When I’m dissociating, I feel really disconnected from myself and from everything around me. It’s like I’m in a dream or watching everything from a distance. Things can look and feel unreal, and sometimes even my own body feels strange or like it doesn’t fully belong to me. I can still see and hear everything, but it feels distant and kind of numb. I have trouble focusing, thinking clearly, or following conversations, and sometimes I just go on autopilot without really processing what I’m doing. I can also lose track of time a little. It’s a really weird feeling because I know everything is real and I know where I am, but it just doesn’t feel real to me in that moment. Sometimes it scares me because I feel like I’m not fully present

>>158603 For me, stopping my meds isn’t an option. I have bipolar disorder, and without treatment my mood and behavior can become really unstable. I also have some concerning personality traits that I don’t want to get worse, so staying on my medication helps keep me stable.
