Only a special prosecutor could truly investigate something that involves the top tier of the FBI, DOJ CIA, NSA and who knows who else AND be above reproach by skeptics.He knew a SC would be appointed and he knew it would be Robert Mueller.

Problem: Mueller is compromised by his many years of swamp dwelling. His work for the Bushes and Clintons would certainly have compromised him many times in many ways. As I think we're all aware, the system works on leverage. It's the coin of the realm in DC and elsewhere. A small team runs all of the important public and private institutions and they only hire/promote people from families and schools that are with the program. Everyone else is either locked out or compromised. Some of you know this from personal experience.

So how, as President, do you reassure the public that they've been misled by all of the political skullduggery and get them all on the same team?

You meet Mueller the day before he's appointed and you remove the leverage from him.Maybe you call him back to active duty. Maybe you give him a secret pardon. Maybe you put his family in a safe location, but whatever the nature of the leverage, you remove it.Then you let him off the chain.

You tell him to go run an honest investigation. Sweep up anyone who's committed a crime. Get every treasonous bastard you can find. No matter who it is.Me, my staff, my kids, former Presidents. Anyone.

To an honest man in seek of redemption, that's going to be like a powerful motivator, but that' not enough. You still need to convince the public of his authenticity. You need to hang the crooked media with their own rope. How do you do that? Attack, attack, attack. Call him crooked. Point out that he has a lot of hyperpartisan and wildly untrustworthy people on his team.Scream about witch hunts.

How does that work?

Every time the President calls Mueller a crook, the left and its media is forced to come to his defense and praise his trustworthiness, honorability etc.

You threaten to fire him.

Result:Screeches of obstruction and vows to "take to the streets" if he's fired, but you'll never fire him. You need him.

Use your logical mind. If Mueller was really crooked and in the pocket of the dems (hillary, obama bush & co. originally believed this) wouldn't you just can him right away? Do we fear a bunch of lefties marching around chanting? Of course not.Demonstrations mean nothing.

End result. The President has been thoroughly investigated and cleared. The people can see this and are more accepting when the truth starts to tumble out.

Bonus 1: The two year investigation also turns up lots more stuff on a lot more people and the people are more prepared to hear it.
