I read one notion that a separate space force would finally obtain all the funding they think they deserve. I don't see how that will happen, since the DOD budget is a zero-sum game. If Space System A is that important, it can be prioritized within the current budgeting system.

Finally, all these ideas about a separate space force only involve the Air Force piece of space, and not those of the other Services. This tells me this is an identity insecurity issue within Air Force Space Command, who feel the rest of the Air Force doesn't love them enough. If it were to be a truly transformational reorganization, it would address all the space capabilities across all the Services. None of the proposals I've seen address this.
