Mel Gibson's sequel to The Passion of the Christ will "shock the audience", its leading actor Jim Caviezel has claimed.

Caviezel, who played Jesus Christ in the 2004 film, confirmed in an interview with USA Today that he is on board to reprise the role in Gibson's long-awaited sequel.

The 49-year-old actor was tight-lipped about details for the project. "There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience," he said. "I won’t tell you how [Gibson is] going to go about it… But I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good."

Caviezel, who also appears in the forthcoming film Paul, Apostle of Christ, added: "Braveheart, that’s a film that took a long time to be able to crack. The same thing for Passion. And the same thing for this. He’s finally got it. So that is coming."

The sequel, The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection, has been in the works for several years. Gibson first revealed the title of the film in 2016, explaining at the time that it will not be a straightforward "chronological telling" of Christ's resurrection.

Sections of the film will take place "in another realm", the director said, and will explore Christ's experiences in the three days between the crucifixion and the resurrection.

"You’re going all over the place," Gibson added. "What happened in three days?… I’m not sure, but it’s worth thinking about. Get your imagination going."

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Randall Wallace, who worked with Gibson on 1995's Braveheart, will write the script. "The evangelical community considers The Passion the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger," Wallace told the Hollywood Reporter in 2016.

The big problem is that the DEA can never win the War on Drugs. There is no one single enemy and there is no single leader with which to do battle. Take out one drug lord and there is always someone waiting in the wings to step into their shoes. Heck, there are times when it is two or even three somebodies waiting. The lure of easy money to be made by selling illegal drugs is huge. The large amounts of cash generated mean the drug dealers can arm themselves with machine guns and automatic weapons. It is a dangerous job trying to stop the flow of drugs across our borders and within our cities.

The War on Drugs is failing and, in an effort to justify its continued existence, the DEA changed course in the early days of the Obama Administration. It started to focus more on prescription drugs and their abuse. With those figures, you would think the DEA would target the thieves, but nope. They don't bring in cash and lots of it. They go after doctors. Some doctors who ran and do run pill mills. These doctors are very few and far between. But yet the DEA still go after Doctors and capture 2% of the illegal Heroin & Fentanyl flooding the USA.

Is it because the DEA got some terrible ratings and possibly would lose government funding that they decided it was easier and more lucrative to go after Doctors & Pharmacies, instead of going after street dealers and the cartels? The DEA contends that they only go after the really egregious cases, but the evidence doesn't support that.

Due to bad press, the DEA needed to find anew front for the War on Drugs, one that could produce tangible, measurable results.

At least 29 people killed in tourist bus crash in Madeira, Portugal

At least 29 people, most of them German tourists, died and 27 more were injured in a bus accident on the Portuguese island of Madeira on Wednesday, authorities said.

The white bus overturned in a residential area in the coastal town of Canico, its mayor, Filipe Sousa, told reporters. TV images showed the vehicle on its side on a bank next to a narrow road and surrounded by rescuers.

“I have no words to describe what happened. I cannot face the suffering of these people,” Sousa told SIC TV.

He said the tourists in the bus were all German but some pedestrians might have been hit by the bus.

More than 50 people were on the vehicle and the dead are said to include 11 men and 18 women. The victims were aged between 40 and 50, according to one senior official.
