The summit will bring together heads of regulatory authorities for human and animal medicines or their designates, from all geographical regions, in order to emphasize the importance of regulation for AMR globally, engage human and animal regulatory authorities on the issues of AMR to optimise use of existing legislation and enforcement measures, and come up with novel, non-regulatory “Smart” solutions to address over-the- counter sale of antibiotics. It will unite regulators and stakeholders from different sectors, regions and countries to manage AMR jointly. Biden releases Al Qaeda instructor held at Guantanamo Bay for two decades

The Biden Administration has just released Said bin Brahim bin Umran Bakush, a suspected Al Qaeda instructor. The terrorist was returned to Algeria on Thursday after being held at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay for two decades.

“The United States appreciates the willingness of the Government of Algeria, and other partners to support ongoing U.S. efforts toward a deliberate and thorough process focused on responsibly reducing the detainee population and ultimately closing the Guantanamo Bay facility,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

According to the New York Times, Bakush is the sixth Guantanamo prisoner released in the past six months; an effort to reduce the population and eventually shut down the facility. A DOD review board determined Bakush was eligible for transfer on April 13, after Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin notified Congress of his intent to repatriate the detainee in February, according to the statement.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reports:

Bakush is one of the last detainees to be released among a group of 20 suspected low-level Islamist fighters captured in a 2002 raid on facilities U.S. and Pakistani authorities believed Al Qaeda was using as safe houses, according to The New York Times. The Department of Defense (DOD) reached an agreement with Algeria to transfer Bakush, originally thought to hail from Libya, subject to continued monitoring, travel restrictions and security conditions, the statement said…

U.S. forces initially identified Bakush as Ali Abdul Razzaq from Libya, but he later claimed to be from Algeria and gave his name as Said Bakush, the NYT reported.

Bakush became increasingly reclusive during his two decades as prisoner, boycotting hearings to determine his suitability for release and in 2017 or 2018 refusing to speak with his lawyer, H. Candace Gorman, according to the NYT. He huddled in his cell at Camp 6, a building where more pliant detainees are permitted to eat, pray and watch TV together.

Drug Suspect Takes Off With Sheriff’s Meth After Sting Fails

A drug dealer suspected of trafficking was able to escape with almost 60 pounds of methamphetamine from Riverside County Sheriff’s narcotics investigators during an undercover operation on April 19th, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Department is currently working to retrieve the drugs, but has not disclosed the location of the incident.

The suspect was identified during a sale set up by the Special Investigation Bureau deputies in an attempt to uncover drug traffickers.

The meeting took place at 4 p.m. where the suspect purchased 27 kilograms of methamphetamine. Following the transaction, the suspect fled and the Gang Task Force attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the suspect refused to pull over, initiating a high-speed pursuit.

NEW YORK – The Syrian ambassador to the UN has long complained of a Zionist conspiracy working with the Syrian rebels to overthrow President Bashar Assad.

Now, a report from the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) reveals that Israel has been working closely with Syrian rebels in the Golan Heights and have kept close contact over the past 18 months. The report was submitted to the UN Security Council at the beginning of the month.

The documents show that Israel has been doing more than simply treating wounded Syrian civilians in hospitals.
