Biden Attorney: Investigators Found No Classified Documents in Delaware Home Search

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US Justice Department investigators found no documents bearing classified markings during a search of President Joe Biden’s residences in Rehoboth, Delaware, Biden's attorney Bob Bauer said on Wednesday.

"The Justice Department’s planned search of the President’s Rehoboth residences, conducted in coordination and cooperation with the President’s attorneys, has concluded… No documents with classified markings were found," Bauer said in a statement.

Investigators searched the residences from 8:30 a.m. ET to noon, the statement said. Although no documents with classified markings were recovered, investigators took some materials and handwritten notes appearing to relate to Biden’s time as vice president for further review, the statement said.

A high-profile former lawyer who donated big money to Democrats and hosted a fundraiser for President Biden was indicted by federal grand juries on Wednesday in two states for allegedly embezzling more than $18 million from legal clients.

The Justice Department announced that Tom Girardi, 83, was charged in Los Angeles with five counts of wire fraud, which carries a maximum 20-year federal prison sentence. According to prosecutors, the charges were part of an indictment accusing him of embezzling more than $15 million from clients and using the funds to cover his law firm's payroll and pay his personal expenses.

We write to request a transcribed interview of Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director, U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Excerpts of emails we are making public today (see enclosed Appendix I) reveal that Dr. Fauci was warned of two things:

(1) the potential that COVID-19 leaked from the Wuhan Institute Virology (WIV) and

(2) the possibility that the virus was intentionally genetically manipulated. It is imperative we investigate if this information was conveyed to the rest of the government and whether this information would have changed the U.S. response to the pandemic.

Despite Dr. Fauci claiming otherwise on multiple occasions,he was, in fact, aware of the monetary relationshipbetween NIAID, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), EcoHealth Alliance Inc. (EcoHealth), and the WIV by January 27, 2020. Dr. Fauci also knew that NIAID worked with EcoHealth to craft a grant policy tosidestep the gain-of-function moratoriumat the time.

• This new policy, designed by EcoHealth and agreed to by NIAID, allowed EcoHealth to complete dangerous experiments on novel bat coronaviruses—with very little oversight—that would have otherwise been blocked by the moratorium.

• In January 2020, Dr. Fauci was also aware that EcoHealth wasnot in compliancewith the terms of its grant that funded the WIV.

• EcoHealth was required to submit an annual progress report to NIAID by September 30, 2019, and had not yet done so.

• The Committee subsequently learned thatEcoHealth failed to submit these reportspresumably to hide a gain-of-function experiment conducted on infectious and potentially lethal novel bat coronaviruses.

By January 27, 2020, Dr. Fauci knew NIAID had funded EcoHealth, the WIV was a subgrantee of EcoHealth, and EcoHealth was not in compliance with its grant reporting, in particular a grant that NIAID knew had gain-of-function potential on novel bat coronaviruses. It is unclear if Dr. Fauci reported any of these issues to his superiors. We need to know the entirety of what Dr. Fauci knew and when he knew it.

On February 1, 2020, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Collins, and at least eleven other scientists Convened a conference call to discuss COVID-19. It was on this conference call that Drs. Fauci and Collins were first warned that COVID-19 may have leaked from the WIV and, further, may have been intentionally genetically manipulated. Again, it is unclear if either Dr. Fauci or Dr. Collins ever passed these warnings along to other government officials or if they simply ignored them.

Only three days later, on February 4, 2020, four participants of the conference call authored a paper entitled “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2” and sent a draft to Drs. Fauci and Collins. Prior to final publication in Nature Medicine, the paper was sent to Dr. Fauci for editing and approval. It is unclear what, if any, new evidence was presented or if the underlying science changed in that short period of time, but after speaking with Drs. Fauci and Collins, the authors abandoned their belief COVID-19 was the result of a laboratory leak. It is also unclear if Drs. Fauci or Collins edited the paper prior to publication. On April 16, 2020, more than two months after the original conference call, Dr. Collins emailed Dr. Fauci expressing dismay that the Nature Medicine article—which they saw prior topublication and were given the opportunity to edit—did not squash the lab leak hypothesis and asks if the NIH can do more to “put down” the lab leak hypothesis.10 The next day—after Dr. Collins explicitly asked for more public pressure—Dr. Fauci cited the Nature Medicine paper from the White House podium likely in an effort to further stifle the hypothesis COVID-19 leaked from the WIV.11

Similarly, yogurts can replenish beneficial bacteria and contains macronutrients capable of stimulating immunity by enhancing cell immunity, reducing oxidative stress, neutralizing inflammation and regulating the intestinal barriers and gut microbiome. Thus, this review highlights the impact of nutritional intervention on COVID-19 management, focusing on the immunomodulatory and inflammatory effects of immune-enhancing nutrients.

Egg as an Immune-Enhancing Food

It has been reported that various dietary combinations, bioactive components, nutrients, and fortified foods modulate inflammation during disease progression (23–25). Eggs represent a complex and controversial dietary component (26) that contains numerous essential nutrients and bioactive compounds, besides being high-quality protein source leading to divergent opinions in dietary recommendation across populations (27, 28).

Egg Structure

Structurally, eggs are composed of albumin (63%), eggshell (9.5%), and yolk (27.5%) (29). Biochemically, they comprise of 75% water, 12% proteins, 12% lipids, various minerals and carbohydrates (30, 31). Though proteins are distributed across the different egg parts, they are mainly contained in the yolk and egg white, while small proportions occur in the eggshell and shell membrane (32, 33). Lipids exclusively occur in the egg yolk mainly as lipoproteins (30, 32), while the bulk of minerals is found in the eggshell. As minor egg components, carbohydrates are found throughout the egg either as free carbohydrates or glycoconjugates (32). The bulk component of egg is the albumen or egg white that constitutes 60% of cumulative egg weight, whereas protein and water add up to other major components (31, 32). The major egg white's proteins are ovalbumin, ovotransferrin, and ovomucoid. Other proteins include ovomacroglobulin (ovostatin), cystatin, lysozyme, avidin, ovoinhibitor andovomucin that gives the albumen its characteristic viscosity (32).

Dietary Benefits of Eggs

Eggs are rich in complete proteins that promote muscle protein synthesis and maintenance of skeletal mass (34, 35). On average, one large egg provides ~6.3 g protein that is rich in essential amino acids (36). Eggs are affordable nutritious dietary components with significant health benefits (37). These nutrients include vitamins, essential proteins, minerals, fats, and various bioactive compounds. Eggs contain high nutrients to energy density ratio per egg, while also providing numerous essential nutrients (38). For instance, a typical boiled egg weighing ~50 g can provide as much as 78 kcal energy, 0.56 g carbohydrate, 6.29 g protein, and 5.3 g total fat. The total fats from an egg contains up to 1.6, 0.7, 2.0, and 186 mg of saturated, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated fats, and cholesterol, respectively. The micronutrients from eggs include iron, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, potassium magnesium, sodium, and most vitamins except vitamin C. These vitamins include riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, folate, and vitamins A, B6, B12, D, E, and K. Besides providing high quality proteins comparable to breast milk, eggs are also a source of antioxidants. Notable antioxidants from eggs include phosvitin rich in phosphoserines, ovotransferrin that chelates Fe3+and ovalbumin that improves the polysaccharide's antioxidant activity through covalent binding (39). These antioxidants act by chelating metal ions and scavenging free radicals thereby inhibit the lipids oxidation. Therefore, eggs are potential sources of natural antioxidants that can be used in both cosmetic and food industries. The eggs' antioxidant activity can ameliorate many degenerative conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in humans (40). However, eggs are not only rich in bioactive components and vital nutrients but also in complete proteins and nutritional cholesterol (28, 41). This controversy has resulted in divergent opinions in dietary recommendation of across populations. Nonetheless, owing to their nutritive quality, eggs, and their derivatives are known to regulate inflammation and modulate immunity.

The battle for lithium: China plants its shovel in the US’ back yard

Superpowers are scrambling to control ‘mineral of the future’ supply chains.

Lithium is the essential mineral for renewable energy resources, and is gearing up to become to the 21st century what coal was to the previous two centuries.

The mineral is the key material in producing lithium-ion batteries, which power everything from mobile phones to electric cars. More importantly, it is deemed to be a “pillar for the fossil-fuel free economy” by the United Nations, seen as the primary way to store energy in the clean power grids of the future. As such, lithium has become one of the most sought-after commodities with its price surging by over 500% in the past two years.

Geopolitical currents are driving a scramble for the precious mineral by world powers. There’s a fight over who controls supply chains, started by the US, its influence over critical global goods byforcibly re-shoring them and undermining competitors(a key aspect of its approach towards Russia and China).

With its dominant position over renewable energy goods and technologies, China has become the focus of the Biden administration's efforts to regain a lead in the industry.Whoever controls the supply chain will dominate the industry.

The supply chain begins where the resource in question is found. On this, China has a head start, possessing both a significant amount of lithium and the ability to mine it. It ranks sixth in the world for overall lithium resources (5.1 million tons) and fourth in mineable reserves (1.5 million tons). The US itself has more lithium resources with 9.1 million tons, but its current mineable reserves stand at only 750,000 tons. Resources in this case relate to known deposits of lithium whereas mineable reserves are those that are already being extracted and utilized. While having Australia on its side, with its 5.7 million tons of lithium reserves, could help shift the balance in its favor, it seems the US is losing its grip on a region that is rich in lithium deposits and also one Washington has dominated for decades if not centuries: Central and South America. Meanwhile, China is making significant advances in these key regions.

Latin America alone possesses 56% of the world’s Lithium deposits. These are concentrated in Bolivia, Argentina, Chile (the ‘lithium triangle’), andBrazil. Bolivia’s 21 million tons are practically untapped, and while Argentina exploits 2.2 million of its 19 million tons of overall resources, there’s obviously room to grow. In addition, Mexico also has 1.7 million tons.Now, the US and China are competing for access to this vast supply.

Washington has waged centuries worth of wars andengineered regime change and coups in Latin American countries, the most recent effort being the unsuccessful attempt to remove Nicholas Maduro from Venezuela (which itself had to do with oil).

As the geopolitical and economic rivalry between the US and China heats up, Beijing has sought to invest in many lithium ventures across the Americas. The US has responded by leveraging political power where it can. There have been efforts to block a Chinese company from exploring lithium in Mexico, and Canada recently ordered three Chinese firms to divest from its mineral companies citing matters of national security. Both of these countries are parties to the USMCA -, and with China gone, their lithium mines will be more open to American investment.

The number one country for Lithium reserves, Bolivia, is not a US-friendly country. As such, several weeks ago a Chinese consortium secured a deal in La Paz that gives it the right to develop two lithium plants. The Chinese company will invest over $1 billion into the first stage of the project.

The US also faces challenges in Argentina and Brazil, with both countries rejecting the Monroe Doctrine and seeking to secure their interests in a more multipolar environment. With the defeat of Jair Bolsonaro “Lula” da Silva, it seems obvious that Brazil will pitch itself as part of a multipolar environment and seek engagement with China, discarding the Sinophobic, pro-US streak embraced by his predecessor. A year ago, Chinese company completed a near $1 billion deal to take over of an Argentinian Lithium firm, something the US was not able to block.

Geopolitical tensions are heating up as fast as an overstressed lithium battery. A future full of electric cars and renewable, clean energy may be coming, but climate issues and the future of humanity are not the driving force here.
