VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — As the annual World Economic Forum takes place in Davos, Switzerland – gathering the global elite, wealthy and a host of anti-life and anti-freedom advocates – the Vatican’s news outlet is promoting the event as “presenting solutions” to world “crises.”
In an interview published January 19 on Vatican News, the local Catholic priest in Davos spoke about the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. It is taking place in its customary January spot, after having been held online in 2021 and then in May last year.
Father Kurt Susak, the parish priest in Davos for over ten years, stated that “everywhere you hear about crises. The world is somehow in crisis mode.” In the face of such crises, he added, the attendees at the WEF are “quite consciously” counting on the event “presenting solutions.”
Susak added the the WEF risked losing “its credibility and legitimacy if this meeting did not now also present solutions that are recognizable to the people and lead to an improvement in the many conflicts and challenges.”
Exactly what kind of solutions might be presented, Susak did not mention. However, as LifeSite has extensively reported, the WEF meetings have already highlighted how “access to abortion” is a key issue.
A moderator at one of the sessions briefly talked about the WEF’s “women’s health initiative,” a project by the globalist organization that also pushes abortion and contraception under the guise of “reproductive health.” The initiative aims, among other things, to reduce “unintended pregnancies and unsafe pregnancies.”

Criticisms of meeting limited
So far, the WEF’s Davos meeting has raised considerable concern for family and freedom advocates. In addition to the overt promotion of abortion, countries such as Poland and Hungary have come under attack there for their stance defending families. The Executive Director of Human Rights Watch,Tirana Hassan, accused the two countries of being “divisive,” claiming that they “increase acts of violence and discrimination” by their policies.
Among the numerous partner organizations for the pro-abortion initiative are leading companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Merck, CVS Health, Save the Children as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Pope Francis declined to see Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is demanding a harder Vatican line on China. The Holy See said meeting just before a U.S. election would be inappropriate.

ROME — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently published a sharp letter excoriating the Vatican’s plans to renew an agreement with the Chinese government on Church operations in China. He promoted the article in a tweet, concluding, “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.”
An indignant Vatican took the article more as a calculated affront than a diplomatic gesture.
The friction broke into the open on Wednesday as Mr. Pompeo arrived in Rome and met with prelates and others who are hostile to Pope Francis, while the Vatican denied him a meeting with the pontiff and rebuffed his efforts to derail the deal with China.
“Pompeo asked to meet” the pope, who turned him down because Francis had “clearly said that he does not receive political figures ahead of the elections,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who, as secretary of state, is the Vatican’s second-ranking official, told reporters.
But to some observers on both sides of the tensions between the Roman Catholic Church and the Trump administration, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is as much about the coming presidential election as about China policy.
Mr. Pompeo dismissed that suggestion as absurd, but intended or not, his trip signals that President Trump is on the side of those conservative American Catholics who worry about the church’s direction under Francis and think he is soft on China.
Francis and Mr. Trump, who have exchanged sharp words in the past, present starkly different visions on issues ranging from the environment to immigration to the threat of populism.
In appealing to the Vatican’s support for religious freedom as a reason to drop its China agreement, Mr. Pompeo seemed to seek common ground, but in a way that upset the pope’s chief allies and delighted his chief critics.
Cardinal Parolin said Mr. Pompeo’s article had caused “surprise” at the Vatican, because this visit to Rome by the secretary and the meetings with high officials at the Holy See had already been in the works and would have been a “more opportune” forum for airing grievances.
He added that Mr. Pompeo’s choice to publish in First Things, a conservative Christian magazine that has called Francis a failure as Pope, also mattered.

Almost $125 billion worth of assets, from performance losses and asset flows, left the hedge fund industry in 2022, Hedge Fund Research (HFR) data showed on Friday in the latest sign of the havoc that volatility wreaked on the industry last year. Investors rethought putting their money into hedge funds, leading to a net outflow of $55 billion in assets, making it the largest capital flight from the industry since 2016, HFR said. High inflation, aggressive central bank interest rate-hikes and Russia's invasion of Ukraine roiled world markets last year, with investors across asset classes having to navigate a level of volatility not seen in years. Investors took $40.4 billion out of hedge funds that buy and sell stocks, which is also the strategy that posted the worst performance numbers, losing $112.5 billion.

Investigation pulls back veil on Soros’ ‘indoctrination’ efforts
At least 54 high-profile media personalities are connected to groups the tycoon helped finance, MRC Business has claimed
Billionaire George Soros has links to dozens of prominent media figures in the US and beyond, via organizations he funded, a conservative US watchdog has claimed.
In the last report of a three-part investigation, published on Tuesday, MRC Business examined the ties of the Budapest-born mogul, concluding that he “cemented himself as one of the most powerful influencers in global politics through his incredible influence in the media.”
MRC Business said that it had uncovered at least “54 major figures in journalism and activist media who are connected to Soros-funded organizations.” The list includes CNN's chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour, NBC News anchor Lester Holt, and Cesar Conde, the NBCUniversal News Group chairman, who oversees the outlets NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC.
Many of the 54 individuals play prominent roles in institutions funded by Soros. For instance, Amanpour is a senior adviser at the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), which received $2.75 million from the mogul between 2018 and 2020, while Holt is listed as a board member in the same organization. Conde is a trustee at the Aspen Institute, which received over $1 million from the billionaire between 2016 and 2020.
According to MRC, in total Soros has funneled over $32 billion into his organizations in a bid “to spread his radical ‘open society’ agenda on abortion, Marxist economics, anti-Americanism, defunding the police, environmental extremism and LGBT fanaticism.” These efforts have paid off, allowing him to “help indoctrinate millions with his views on a day-to-day basis”, the group claims.
MRC has previously claimed that Soros has financial ties to at least 253 media organizations globally, funding them through his non-profit groups and enabling him to reach viewers and listeners in virtually every corner of the world.
Commenting on the report, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted on Thursday that such revelations could be compared to a “nuclear bombshell.” Should it be proven that the leading US media outlets “received money for adjusting their coverage, all US democracy could be wrapped up in their Constitution and thrown out into the garbage heap of history,” she said.

Utah Doctor Arrested for Giving Saline Shots to Kids Instead of Vaccines
A Utah plastic surgeon, his neighbor, and two others are facing charges after allegedly giving people fake vaccination cards and destroying government-provided COVID-19 vaccinations.
Dr. Michael Kirk Moore Jr., 58, and his neighbor, Kristin Jackson Andersen, 59, have been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to convert, sell, convey, and dispose of government property, conversion sale, conveyance, and disposal of government property and aiding and abetting.
The Plastic Institute of Utah Inc., along with office manager Kari Dee Burgoyne, 52, and receptionist Sandra Flores, 31, faces the same charges.
According to court documents, Moore and his co-defendants allegedly ran a scheme out of Plastic Surgery Institute of Utah Inc. to defraud the United States and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The documents say Moore and Andersen were members of a private organization seeking to “liberate the medical profession from government and industry conflicts of interest.”
In the allegations, the four destroyed at least $28,000 worth of COVID-19 vaccinations and distributed at least 1,900 doses’ worth of fake completed vaccination record cards. The court documents allege the fake vaccination cards were sold either for direct cash payments of $50 per person per occurrence or required “donations to a specified charitable organization.”
The court documents estimate the fake vaccination cards have a total value of nearly $97,000.
Moore and his co-defendants also allegedly gave children saline shots at the request of their parents so the children would think they were receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.
“By allegedly falsifying vaccine cards and administering saline shots to children instead of COVID-19 vaccines, not only did this provider endanger the health and well-being of a vulnerable population, but also undermined public trust and the integrity of federal health care programs,” said Special Agent in Charge with the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General Curt L. Muller.
The defendants are scheduled for their initial appearance in court on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m.

So, we went for the most popular president to a president nobody voted for. Wait a minute, you may ask, why didn’t I know that? Wasn’t Richard Nixon a criminal?
Wasn’t he despised by all decent people? No, he wasn’t. In fact, if any president could claim to be the people’s choice, it was Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon was re-elected in 1972 by the largest margin of the popular vote ever recorded before or since. Nixon got 17 million more votes than his opponent. Less than two years later, he was gone. He was forced to resign and in his place, an obedient servant of the federal agencies called Gerald Ford took over the White House.
How did that happen? Well, it’s a long story, but here are the highlights and they tell you a lot. Richard Nixon believes that elements in the federal bureaucracy were working to undermine the American system of government and had been doing that for a long time. He often said that. He was absolutely right. On June 23, 1972, Nixon met with the then–CIA director, Richard Helms, at the White House. During the conversation, which thankfully was tape-recorded, Nixon suggested he knew “who shot John,” meaning President John F. Kennedy. Nixon further implied that the CIA was directly involved in Kennedy’s assassination, which we now know it was. Helms’s telling response? Total silence, but for Nixon, it didn’t matter because it was already over. Four days before, on June 19, The Washington Post had published the first of many stories about a break-in at the Watergate office building.
Unbeknownst to Nixon and unreported by The Washington Post, four of the five burglars worked for the CIA. The first of many dishonest Watergate stories was written by a 29-year-old metro reporter called Bob Woodward. Who exactly was Bob Woodward? Well, he wasn’t a journalist. Bob Woodward had no background whatsoever in the news business. Instead, Bob Woodward came directly from the classified areas of the federal government. Shortly before Watergate, Woodward was a naval officer at the Pentagon.

'Witches' give Catholic students magical 'crystals' – counselor loses job for inviting Wiccans to school
A counselor at a Pennsylvania Catholic high school recently lost her job after inviting three Wiccan "witches" to speak to students. The presentation, which was supposed to be about starting a small business, went "off the rails" when the self-proclaimed witches provided the students with magical "crystals," KDKA-TV reported.
The witches told the news outlet that the North Catholic High School counselor invited the women to talk to a marketing class of junior and senior students about being "female entrepreneurs." The three women own Elemental Magick, a "metaphysical" business that sells crystals with magical properties, incense, candles, and books.
According to the women, just before Christmas break, they were invited to speak at the school because one of them was formerly a "sorority sister" with the counselor who extended the invite.
In a Thursday Facebook post, the women explained that they provided students with crystals to act as "icebreakers" because they thought the teenagers would like them. After discussing the challenges of starting their business, they hoped to share each rock's "metaphysical properties" with the students.
Tabitha Latshaw, one of the Wiccan witches, explained that she was unaware that the alleged magical properties of the crystals would be "an offense to the Church."
Latshaw told KDKA, "God made these [crystals]. They come from the earth. That's all I can say."
"We worship as Wiccans," she added. "We worship nature. So our elements, earth, air, water and fire, that's what we worship."
Michelle Peduto, secretary for North Catholic High School, told the news outlet that the witches' visit went "off the rails" when students became uneasy about the crystals' supposed magical properties and reported the incident "directly to the administrators."
The school conducted an investigation over the winter break and sent an email apology to students' parents. School officials advised the students to dispose of the crystals and recite a prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel to cleanse their homes.
Peduto noted that crystals with magical properties have no place in a Catholic school or home.
"It is because as we know our faith is in Jesus Christ and not in objects necessarily," Peduto explained. "Rosary beads? Yes. But crystals? No."
According to Peduto, as a result, the counselor is no longer with the school.
"We followed our process and protocol and as of today, actually, a few days, she's not with the school anymore," Peduto told KDKA.
The counselor told KDKA that she was placed on administrative leave and given the option to resign. She insisted that she had no intention of pushing Wiccan beliefs on the students.

Big Tech Unites, Urges Supreme Court to Keep Laws Protecting Social Media Companies in Place
A slew of big tech giants, including Meta, Microsoft, and Twitter, have joined Google in filing legal briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that amending a statute pertaining to social media companies’ liability for content posted on their platforms could strip the companies of protections from lawsuits.
Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act generally shields online platforms like Google and Meta from liability for content published by third parties, or their users. The law was passed by Congress in 1996.
This year, in February, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a high-profile case—Gonzalez v. Google—which centers around whether or not online websites should be held liable for content recommended on their sites.
For example, Nohemi Gonzalez was a 23-year-old American citizen who has killed by ISIS terrorists when they opened fire in a Paris bistro in November 2015. Lawyers for the family have argued that Google-owned YouTube was partly to blame for the incident and helped the terrorist group to grow by allowing it to share content with its users, thus prompting deaths.
Lawyers for Gonzalez also alleged that YouTube’s recommendation algorithms made it easier for ISIS videos to reach potential recruits.
The Supreme Court is now weighing up possibly striking down some of the protections provided in Section 230.

Wray said the artificial intelligence program in China is “built on top of the massive troves of intellectual property” and is not constrained by the same set of laws that apply in the United States and other democracies.
He said the CCP could use artificial intelligence to advance its hacking program, intellectual property theft, and repression that not only occurs in mainland China but “increasingly is a product that they export around the world” if left unchecked.
“That’s something we’re deeply concerned about, and I think everyone here should be deeply concerned about,” Wray said at the forum.
Such concerns have long been voiced by U.S. officials.
In October 2021, for instance, U.S. counterintelligence officials issued warnings about China’s ambitions in artificial intelligence as part of a renewed effort to inform business executives, academics, and local and state government officials about the risks of accepting Chinese investment or expertise in key industries.
Wray previously emphasized the CCP’s use of coercive laws to effectively force technology transfers from U.S. businesses operating in China to the state.
US Companies Aware of Surveillance
In an apparent reference to China’s national intelligence laws, which allow the regime to demand the data of any company in the name of security, Wray said that many U.S. companies simply accept that they’ll be spied on.
“China’s economy also gives it leverage and tools, sway over companies. … For many U.S. and foreign companies doing business in China, or looking to, the cost effectively amounts to a blanket consent to state surveillance in the name of security, at best,” Wray said at a cybersecurity talk at Boston College on June 1, 2022.
“At worst, they’ve got to accept the risk that their sensitive information may be co-opted to serve Beijing’s geopolitical goals,” he said.
Wray also described how the CCP uses state-mandated tax systems in China to covertly spy on companies on the mainland. He said that Chinese laws require businesses to make use of a small suite of software options for tax purposes, at least one of which was used by the CCP to implant malware into companies’ systems to allow covert government access to the company’s data.
Aside from direct government intervention, Wray said that China, along with Iran and Russia, is hiring hackers as if they were cyber mercenaries, and providing them with state resources to conduct attacks on the United States on China’s behalf.
Such actors, he said, frequently target the defense and industrial sectors to cause havoc, deny access, or steal secrets.
“The Chinese government is methodical, hacking in support of long-term economic goals,” he said.
“They’ve got a bigger hacking program than all other major nations combined. They’ve stolen more American personal and corporate data than all nations combined. And they’re showing no sign of tempering their ambition and aggression.”

Joe Biden’s name was mentioned prominently in an October 2017 email seeking to firm up a controversial, multimillion-dollar deal to ship natural gas from the US to China, the communication, found on first son Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop, reveals.
In a missive dated Oct. 27 of that year, Louisiana attorney Robert W. Fenet told Hunter and his uncle, first brother Jim Biden, that he had secured a contact for them at Houston energy company Cherniere, the Daily Mail reported Friday.
“I confirm I have requested [the contact] to be available for a call from Joe Biden and Hunter Biden on Monday morning,” Fenet wrote.
The attorney did not immediately return a message from The Post requesting clarification on why the then-former vice president was name dropped.
President Biden has a history of ties to Cherniere’s executives: He named former company lobbyist and vice president Ankit Desai as his political director in 2005, and former board member Heather Zichal became his campaign climate adviser in 2020.
At the time the email was sent, however, Biden was the former Obama administration vice president and about a year-and-a-half away from announcing a presidential run. The White House did not respond to The Post’s request for a comment on the note.
Although Biden has repeatedly denied involvement in his ne’er-do-well son’s Chinese business dealings, records from Hunter’s laptop and witness testimony suggest he was aware of, if not directly connected to, the transactions.
In emails with Fenet, Jim Biden referred to the Biden clan’s involvement in the project, which involved supplying millions of tons of liquid natural gas (LNG) from Louisiana to Chinese state-backed conglomerate CEFC Energy.
“We Biden’s [sic] often fraught with problems, that they can can [sic] come from working with family members, are of a different mind. It’s all about family, and people we choose to do business with,” Jim wrote Fenet on Oct. 19, 2017.
On May 13, 2017, Hunter’s business partner James Gilliar said in an email that 10% of equity in the CEFC venture would be kept in equity “by H for the big guy.”
Both Gilliar and another Biden business partner, Tony Bobulinski, have said “the big guy” is a reference to Joe Biden.

The two sides discussed Canada’s military space structure, priorities, and capabilities, and exchanged views on force design and development. They agreed on the value of increasing interoperability and ensuring alignment of effort as Canadian space capabilities continue to grow.
The leaders further discussed opportunities to make complementary contributions toward a more resilient space architecture. Saltzman praised Canada as a highly capable partner and underscored the willingness of the U.S. Space Force to increase cooperation.

As reported by British Conservative Party-adjacent newspaper The Daily Telegraph, the PM’s response was rather terse, telling his audience “I want to cut your taxes… I wish I could do that tomorrow, quite frankly, but the reason we can’t is because of all the reasons you know. You’re not idiots, you know what’s happened”.
Sunak went on to say the government shutting down the economy for coronavirus and the war in Ukraine means he couldn’t cut taxes.
Before letting Britons keep more of their own money, Sunak said he had a shopping list of things he wanted to do first, saying he wanted to get more funding to government departments, get interest rates lower, and get a “grip” on inflation.
The comments have, perhaps unsurprisingly, caused some concern. Richard Tice, leader of the Reform Party — previously Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party — said Sunak was showing his “consocialist” colours with the remark. Tory Brexiteer John Redwood questioned Sunak’s logic of only cutting tax once the economy was growing, pointing out the very long-term Conservative view that it is tax cuts that spur the economy to growth, not the other way around.
The Telegraph cited John Longworth, former director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) as saying that Sunak reaching for words like “idiot” to describe those in favour of shrinking the state shows “desperation on his part”.
“We should cut tax and regulation, stimulate the economy and enterprise – and that will generate tax revenues. It is a bizarre situation that we are in, where we have people at the top of government who do not believe in growth. They need to go and read Mrs Thatcher,” Longworth added.

Mexican Judge Jails Entire Cartel Cell After Attempted Murder of Journalist
A judge in Mexico City ordered 12 members of a drug distribution cell be held without bond on various charges Thursday. The cell, tied to Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG), is believed to be behind the attempted murder of one of the country’s most famous journalists, Ciro Gomez Leyva.
This week, the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office announced that a judge formally charged members of the cell for weapons and drug distribution. The cartel-connected suspects are expected to remain in jail without bond. Authorities believe the group is tied to CJNG, which has been linked to crimes in Mexico City.
Authorities initially arrested 11 members of the group last week during raids. Cops in Michoacan arrested the actual gunman identified only as “Hector Eduardo” and then sent him to Mexico City, El Sol de Morelia reported at the time.
The police operations come after the criminal organization tried to murder Ciro Gomez Leyva. Gomez Leyva reported his attack by posting photographs of his vehicle on social media on December 15. The journalist survived because he was driving an armored vehicle.
According to Mexico City Police Chief Omar Garcia Harfuch, gunmen followed Gomez Leyva days before the attack. They ultimately executed their attempt by sending two vehicles to help a gunman riding a motorcycle.

A host of astronomical objects are scattered across this image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. Background galaxies ranging from stately spirals to fuzzy ellipticals are strewn across the image, while a smattering of bright foreground stars are closer to home. In the center of the image, the vague shape of the small galaxy UGC 7983 appears as a hazy cloud of light. UGC 7983 is around 30 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. It is a dwarf irregular galaxy – a type thought to be similar to the very earliest galaxies in the universe.
This image also reveals a relatively nearby astronomical interloper. A minor asteroid in our own solar system streaks across the upper left-hand side of the image. The asteroid’s trail is visible as four streaks of light separated by small gaps. These streaks of light represent the four separate exposures that were combined to create this image. The small gaps between each observation reflect filter changes inside Hubble’s Advanced Camera for Surveys between exposures.
Capturing an asteroid was a fortunate side effect of a larger effort to observe every known galaxy close to the Milky Way. Hubble had imaged roughly 75% of all the Milky Way’s near galactic neighbors, when a group of astronomers proposed using the gaps between longer Hubble observations to capture images of the remaining 25%. The project was an elegant efficient way to fill gaps in Hubble's observing schedule and in our knowledge of nearby galaxies.

Programming humans is more difficult, but can also be done within the same context of shifting their will to be aligned with the programming.
This also depends on what we are calling a "hack" - as there are a number of things that can involuntarily place you into states of higher blood pressure or stress.

Police have approved plans to deploy 1,000 officers and block vehicle access to roads across Tel Aviv beginning Saturday afternoon, in anticipation of a mass anti-government protest against the planned judicial overhaul.
In an assessment Thursday, police predicted larger crowds than last week’s demonstration — which was beset by rain — will turn up this Saturday, following a clear weather forecast and a bombshell High Court ruling this week declaring Shas chief Aryeh Deri as unfit to be a government minister.
Police officials also expressed fear of clashes with right-wing counter-protesters, who have called on social media for pro-government activists to take to the streets, Channel 12 reported.
The main protest in Tel Aviv will be divided, with one organizer, the Movement for Quality Government in Israel, holding a rally at Habima Square for the second weekend in a row while other organizers will demonstrate less than a kilometer (half a mile) away at the intersection of Kaplan and Begin streets.
Police are set to begin blocking off roads around the protest sites at 4 p.m. Traffic disruptions, including public bus cancellations, are expected in areas around Habima Square, Menachem Begin Street, Arlozorov Street, Namir Road, Shaul Hamelech Boulevard, and Dubnow Street until the protests conclude Saturday night.
Smaller protests are also expected to take place in Jerusalem and Haifa and at other sites around the country. After skipping last week’s events, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid said Wednesday he would attend this weekend, alongside other members of the opposition.
National Unity party chair Benny Gantz vowed he will again be at the protest, in a video posted to social media on Friday.
“No matter what your political positions are, on Saturday night everyone will take to the streets to tell the government — yes, it is possible to reach broad agreements [to draft reforms more acceptable to the public] but we must not run over what the country’s founders wrote in the Declaration of Independence, and what we built here for 75 years,” he said.
“We march to say yes to reforms and no to vengeful measures that will dismantle Israeli resilience and democracy,” he added.
MK Gideon Sa’ar, the No. 2 in National Unity, said Friday he would also be attending the protest and called for members of his right-wing New Hope subfaction to join the rally after being absent from the last demonstration.
“We are at the peak of the struggle for the future of Israel. There is no left and right in the struggle to protect the democratic regime. This fateful struggle by the country’s citizens is for the benefit of our children’s future in this land, a struggle forced on us by a dangerous and unrestrained government,” Sa’ar wrote to party activists over the Telegram messaging app.
The Movement for Quality Government announced that two separate protest sites were planned due to an expectation that more people will attend this weekend.

Ray became internationally known after it was learned that he had run a manipulative cult-like grouping of students after moving into his daughter's on-campus apartment at the prestigious college.
Ray was convicted in April of last year of extortion, forced labor, sex trafficking and other charges connected to the sordid affair.
U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman at the sentencing described Ray as "evil" and his crimes "particularly horrible."
“He degraded them sexually to the point where they lost any sense of self worth,” Linman said. “He extorted them, he forced them to engage in labor, and he sex trafficked one of them all for his profit and sadistic and persevere sexual pleasure.”
