Birx then spends hundreds of pages recounting her clandestine political maneuvers—from the day she stepped foot in the White House—to get as much of America as possible to stay in lockdown for as long as possible, without making it look like a “lockdown.” At this point, I wasn’t about to use the words lockdown or shutdown. If I had uttered either of those in early March, after being at the White House only one week, the political, nonmedical members of the task force would have dismissed me as too alarmist, too doom-and-gloom, too reliant on feelings and not facts. They would have campaigned to lock me down and shut me up.

We had to make these palatable to the administration by avoiding the obvious appearance of a full Italian lockdown. We were playing a game of chess in which the success of each move was predicated on the one before it. Never mind that this kind of manipulation by a presidential advisor is probably not legal…

Birx’s apparent plan to almost singlehandedly destroy the world’s primary democratic superpower is going swimmingly until she meets the book’s leading antagonist: Dr. Scott Atlas. To Birx’s disgust, Atlas takes a strong stand for all the things she loathes most—things like human rights, democratic governance, and, most of all, freedom. As Scott Atlas recalls in his own book, A Plague Upon Our House: Birx commented on the importance of testing asymptomatic people. She argued that the only way to figure out who was sick was to test them. She memorably exclaimed, “That’s why it’s so dangerous—people don’t even know they’re sick!” I felt myself looking around the room, wondering if I was the only one who had heard this.

Birx spends roughly the next 150 pages of her book recalling her anguish as Atlas thwarted her plans to keep America in a near-permanent state of lockdown. As Atlas recalls: She threw a fit, right there, in front of everyone, as we stood near the door before leaving the Oval Office. She was furious, screaming at me, “NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!! AND IN THE OVAL!!” I felt pretty bad, because she was so angry. I had absolutely no desire for conflict. But did she actually expect me to lie to the president, just to cover up for her? I responded, “Sorry, but he asked me a question, so I answered it.”

Atlas recalls being baffled as to why Birx had ever been appointed to her role in the first place: I also asked how she had been appointed—that seemed to be a bit of a mystery to everyone. I was told by Jared, more than once, “Dr. Birx is 100 percent MAGA!”—as if that should make all the other issues somehow less important. Secretary Azar denied appointing her during his stint running the Task Force. I was told by the VP’s chief of staff, Marc Short, that Pence “inherited her” when he took over as chair of the Task Force. No one seemed to know.

All the advice from the Task Force to the states came from Dr. Birx. All written recommendations about their on-the-ground policies were from Dr. Birx. Dr. Birx conducted almost all the visits to states on behalf of the Task Force. But in researching this topic for over two years, few things have made my hair stand on end more than the clues Birx gives about the man who did appoint her to her role. This man, who will be the subject of my next deep dive, is a little-known, clean-cut, Mandarin-fluent intelligence operative who arguably played a greater role than even Fauci or Birx in bringing China’s totalitarian virus response to the United States, acting as a direct liaison between Chinese scientists and the White House on key items of pseudoscience including asymptomatic spread, universal masking, and remdesivir:Matthew Pottinger.

What is it like working at the DOJ?

It’s good. It’s busy. I’m a trial attorney, which means that my job is to travel around the country assisting United States attorneys who are working on organized crime and gang cases in their districts. We’re considered subject-matter experts and we help in any way we can. Usually we join a case early on in the investigation and we help prepare all the different documents that go into an investigation, whether that’s grand jury subpoenas, or search warrants, or orders to get cell phone information, that type of thing. We interview witnesses, we put witnesses in the grand jury, which is part of the process to indict a case. Ultimately, if the evidence is there, we’ll seek an indictment and continue to work on the case all the way through resolution, whether that’s by a plea agreement or a trial.

Gavin Newsom Calls on Justice Department to Investigate Martha’s Vineyard Migrant Flights for Kidnapping

Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom, a potential 2024 presidential candidate, released a letter sent to the Biden Justice Department Thursday calling for a federal investigation of Wednesday’s two flights of 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts for kidnapping, RICO and civil rights charges. The flights were coordinated by one of Newsom’s potential 2024 rivals, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The Martha’s Vineyard flights were followed Thursday morning with a surprise delivery of two busloads of migrants to Kamala Harris’ residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. by Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Newsom is basing his charges on an NPR report that some of the migrants said they were told they were being flown to Boston and would receive help with work papers.

NPR was able to interview three of the migrants late Wednesday. “They (the migrants) told us they had recently crossed the border in Texas and were staying at a shelter in San Antonio,” NPR’s Joel Rose said on Morning Edition.

The migrants said a woman they identified as “Perla” approached them outside the shelter and lured them into boarding the plane, saying they would be flown to Boston where they could get expedited work papers. She provided them with food. The migrants said Perla was still trying to recruit more passengers just hours before their flight.

Andres Duarte, a 30-year-old Venezuelan, said he had recently crossed the border into Texas and eventually went to a shelter in San Antonio.

“She (Perla) offered us help. Help that never arrived,” Andres said. “Now we are here. We got on the plane with a vision of the future, of making it.” He went on to explain why he boarded the plane with so little information in hand. “Look, when you have no money and someone offers help, well, it means a lot.”

…Most of the arrivals spoke little or no English, and Spanish-speaking high school students were pressed into service as interpreters.

Edgartown Police Chief Bruce McNamee said many of the migrants were confused.

“We have talked to a number of people who’ve asked, ‘Where am I?’ And then I was trying to explain where Martha’s Vineyard is.”

Newsom’s letter to the Justice Department was posted to Twitter where he snarked at DeSantis and Abbott, “What @GovRonDeSantis and @GregAbbott_TX are doing isn’t clever, it’s cruel. I’m formally requesting the DOJ begin an immediate investigation into these inhumane efforts to use kids as political pawns.”

FDA refusing to provide key covid “vaccine” safety analyses, suggesting massive coverup

Government regulators at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) say they will not release any of the agency’s Covid-19 “vaccine” safety analyses for independent review because their findings are allegedly part of internal discussions that are protected by law.

Back in July, The Epoch Times submitted a request to the FDA for all analyses performed using a special method called Empirical Bayesian data mining. This method involves comparing adverse events recorded after injection with a Fauci Flu shot to adverse events recorded after injection with some other non-covid vaccine.

Whatever data these analyses produced was used by the FDA to foist Chinese Virus shots on everyone, including infants and toddlers. (Related: Check out our earlier coverage about the FDA’s suspicious secrecy to learn more.)

The operational procedures laid out by the agency and its partner in January 2021 and February 2022 stipulate that the FDA is to perform data mining “at least biweekly,” if not more often than that, to identify adverse events “reported more frequently than expected following vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines.” That data was to come from the official Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

Fast-forward to today and the FDA is now refusing to release any information about this data mining, claiming an exemption to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that allows governments to withhold inter-agency and intra-agency memorandums and letters “that would not be available by law to a party other than an agency in litigation with the agency.”

Fox News reports that the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected two Russian maritime aircraft penetrating the Alaskan and Canadian Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ) on Sunday. The two aircraft did not enter American or Canadian sovereign air space. NORAD stated that it did not regard either aircraft as a threat.

Russian military aircraft regularly approach the sovereign airspace of the United States and Canada as a way to test NORAD defenses. In 2020, two nuclear-capable Russian TU-95 bombers flew to about 20 miles of Alaska’s shores. Last month, Russian surveillance aircraft entered the ADIZ twice over two days.

NORAD has been defending Russia's approaches to North America since the Cold War to detect any nuclear missile and bomber attack. “NORAD uses a network of satellites and ground-based radars to monitor the ADIZ, which extends along the shores of Alaska and Canada.”
