Been thinking the same thing, Anon.
Big advice: Do not go with Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, etc. You do not own your site with these folks. They can shut you down at will, just like we're seeing right now. And, even if you decide to move, you cannot just pack up and move along; you are tied in to their platforms.
I use WordPress for myself and for my clients. You can export the entire site and reinstall it on another host if you ever need to pick up and move. (I've done this.) Note that WordPress.org (open-source website solution) is not the same as WordPress.com (a web host that leverages WordPress but ties your hands behind your back in terms of themes, plugins, etc. you're allowed to use). If I recall correctly, late last year WordPress.com de-platformed The Conservative Treehouse. So they are dead to me.
As far as hosting goes, I haven't found anyone who is explicitly pro-free speech but I haven't researched it much myself. That's something I'll be doing soon, though. The big key with a lot of hosting providers is to find out where they are actually hosting their websites (e.g., do they have their own servers or are they just placing your site on their AWS platform?).
TLDR: My opinion is to use WordPress and find a host that does not leverage Amazon, Microsoft, etc. for server space.
