Ok, you can't make this up but both Industrial Production and Manufacturing Output bothtumbled on a non-seasonally-adjusted basis...

Industrial Production rose 0.3% MoM (SA)... but plunged 1.7% MoM (NSA) Manufacturing Output rose 0.35% MoM (SA)... but tumbled 0.5% MoM (NSA)

US industrial production unexpectedly jumped by 0.3% MoM in September (0.0% exp) as capacity utilization picked up modestly (from 79.5% to 79.7%). This is the 3rd straight month of increased industrial production (and IP remains marginally higher on YoY basis)... Utilities slid 0.3% MoM in Sept after rising 0.7% MoM in Aug.

On the manufacturing specific sector, production rose 0.4% MoM (better than the 0.0% exp).

Manufacturing production, however, remains lower on a YoY basis for the seventh straight month.

Once again, seasonal-adjustments saved the day as Manufacturing output fell 0.5% NSA (+0.4% SA)... Seasonals saved Bidenomics...

One thing of note - ahead of the UAW strikes - is that Business Light Vehicles-Autos production plunged 6.2% MoM in September (after a big jump in August)...(good luck there as the UAW has played right into the hands of the auto mfgs since they were already looking at drastic production cuts cuz ain’t no one buying EVs and $100k trucks and domestic mfgs don’t really make non-EV small cars any longer)

The person who killed three 9-year-old children and three adults at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville this spring left behind at least 20 journals, a suicide note and a memoir, according to court filings. The debate over those writings and other records has pitted grieving parents and traumatized children against a coalition which includes two news organizations, a state senator and a gun-rights group.

That coalition requested police records on the Covenant School shooting through the Tennessee Public Records Act earlier this year. When the Metro Nashville Police Department declined their request, they sued. Metro government attorneys have said the records can be made public, but only after the investigation is officially closed, which could take months. For months, congressional Republicans have suggested that when Hunter Biden received millions of dollars from places like Ukraine and Romania, an $80,000 diamond from China and a luxury car underwritten from Kazakhstan he was simply trading on his powerful family name and not really conducting meaningful business. But Democrats have scoffed, painting these facts as part of a conspiracy theory.

But now GOP House investigators have found a powerful ally for their narrative: former Hunter Biden pal and business partner Rob Walker, who told the FBI in a newly released interview report that Hunter Biden often got something for essentially nothing.

In an FBI FD-302 interview report dated Nov. 23, 2021, Walker recounted to agents how Hunter Biden borrowed $90,000 from him and never repaid it and detailed another instance in 2017 in which one of their joint business ventures got a whopping $3 million payment from the Chinese energy firm CEFC essentially as a gift.if

National Guard Chief Gen. Daniel Hokanson Dismisses Leaked Email Claiming Enlisted Troops are Anti-Semitic and Don’t Want to Risk Lives for Israel

A cyber group linked to the Iranian Resistance Front, a pro-regime group, allegedly obtained a crucial email exchange between General Daniel R. Hokanson, the head of the U.S. National Guard Bureau, and a high-ranking officer within the organization.

The email published by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency claimed a growing reluctance among American troops to put their lives on the line for Israel. The leak also showed that General Hokanson blames former President Donald Trump for worsening the situation.

The alleged email, dated October 13 2023, – just last week! – was obtained from one of the internal messaging systems of the US National Guard.

In the email, General Hokanson accused the troops of being anti-Semitic for openly stating they don’t want to sacrifice their lives for Israel. He added that Trump’s criticism of Netanyahu on Wednesday would only make matters worse.

In the alleged email, Hokanson believed that the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) was unprepared for the sudden escalation in the region and lacked the necessary resources to back Israel should the situation spiral into a broader conflict.

He added that if Hezbollah or other regional actors were to join the conflict, Israel would be unable to defend itself.

The leaked email is a huge blow to the American military and intelligence community!

UN detains peacekeepers in DR Congo over sexual exploitation claims

The United Nations has issued a statement saying it has detained peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and that it is investigating allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse.

It added that the Office of Internal Oversight Services is investigating the matter and the suspension is in line with its “zero-tolerance policy for sexual exploitation and abuse and other forms of misconduct.”

The statement, issued on Wednesday, does not indicate how many peacekeepers belonging to the Organization Stabilization Mission (MONUSCO) have been detained, but media reports based on the internal documents of the Mission say they belong to the South African contingent of the UN force.

These documents indicate that eight peacekeepers had been detained on October 1 in connection with allegations of sexual misconduct, while a ninth had been suspended a week later for intimidating and threatening UN personnel.

Further details in the documents reported that bars and brothels named after South African townships and cities had popped up around the MONUSCO base at Mavivi, near Beni.

According to the UN, 1,184 South African peacekeepers serve in the country.

“These initial measures include the suspension from duty, detention, and confinement to quarters of concerned peacekeepers pending receipt of additional information on the allegations, including through the conduct of a full-fledged investigation,” the UN statement said.

The organization condemned behavior unbefitting of personnel and irestated its commitment to continuing to “support the rights and dignity of the victims.”

Last month, the DR Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi told the UN General Assembly there was a need to accelerate the departure of the peacekeeping force, saying that it had failed to cope with rebellions and armed conflicts, despite being deployed for 25 years.

Tshisekedi added that he wanted the withdrawal to be accelerated from December 2024 to December of this year.

The Mission has also been involved in clashes with citizens. In February, eight people were killed and 28 wounded when a MONUSCO convoy was attacked in the east of DR Congo. Locals accused the UN peacekeeping mission of failing to protect them last year when a rebel group known as M23 staged a violent offensive that displaced hundreds of thousands and caused dozens of deaths in the region.

The Mission had said that it was conducting a joint investigation with local authorities into the circumstances of the incident.

The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) has taken immediate and robust action in response to reports of serious misconduct by UN peacekeepers.

Those reports follow a series of measures that the Mission has proactively initiated across its areas of deployment to ensure compliance with United Nations values and standards of conduct.

The Office of Internal Oversight Services has been seized of the matter and precautionary measures have already been initiated in line with the Secretary-General’s zero-tolerance policy for sexual exploitation and abuse and other forms of misconduct.

These initial measures include suspension from duty, detention, and confinement to quarters of concerned peacekeepers pending receipt of additional information on the allegations, including through the conduct of a full-fledged investigation.

The Mission strongly condemns such behaviours that are unbefitting of United Nations personnel. MONUSCO is committed to ensuring that all personnel comply with the highest standards of conduct and will continue its efforts on prevention and to support the rights and dignity of the victims.

China & Russia Criticize Israel As Putin Arrives In Beijing To Deepen Ties With "Dear Friend" Xi

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Beijing Tuesday where he's meeting with his "dear friend" Chinese leader Xi Jinping for the third international Belt and Road forum.

It marks Putin's first trip outside of former Soviet Union countries since the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest in March - something which impacted his travel to South Africa for the August BRICS summit. Instead he addressed the summit remotely, while Xi, Modi and others were in Johannesburg.

Xi and Putin are expected to hold lengthy formal talks on Wednesday, while Tuesday night Putin is attending a welcome dinner hosted by the Chinese leader, according to China Central Television.

To some degree, the international spotlight and pressure surrounding the Ukraine war has been taken off Putin as the world's attention has shifted to rapidly moving events in Gaza and Israel.

Xi and Putin had last met in the Chinese capital in early 2022, just three weeks before Russia's invasion of Ukraine was launched on Feb. 24.

Both are now expected to find common ground on criticizing Israel's actions, and will likely renew calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. Over the weekend China's foreign ministry blasted Israel's actions as collective punishment against Palestinians.

"Israel’s actions have gone beyond self-defense and it should heed the call of the international community and the Secretary-General of the United Nations to stop its collective punishment of the people in Gaza," Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Saudi Arabia counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in a Sunday call.

In a separate call he told Turkey's FM: "The exercise of the right of self-defense should abide by international humanitarian law and should not be at the expense of innocent civilian casualties."

Daniel Robert Hokanson (born June 27, 1963)[1] is a four-star general in the United States Army who currently serves as the 29th chief of the National Guard Bureau. He previously served as the 21st director of the Army National Guard. His previous military assignments include serving as vice chief of the National Guard Bureau, deputy commander of United States Northern Command, adjutant general of the Oregon National Guard, and commander of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
