‘We are way behind’: Top DeSantis PAC official sounds alarm
Steve Cortes got pretty blunt during a Twitter spaces session on Sunday night.
A top spokesperson for Ron DeSantis’ super PAC is sounding a decidedly dour note on the Florida governor’s presidential prospects, saying his campaign is facing an “uphill battle” and is trailing badly in the key nominating states.
Steve Cortes, who previously supported Donald Trump, also heaped praise on the former president, calling him a “runaway frontrunner” and “maestro” of the debate.
“Right now in national polling we are way behind, I’ll be the first to admit that,” Cortes said in a Twitter spaces event that was recorded on Sunday night. “I believe in being blunt and honest. It’s an uphill battle but clearly Donald Trump is the runaway frontrunner,”
Calling the DeSantis campaign the “clear underdog,” he added: “In the first four states which matter tremendously, polls are a lot tighter, we are still clearly down. We’re down double digits, we have work to do.”
The remarks amounted to a remarkably blunt admission of vulnerability from within the ranks of a leading presidential operation, contrasting with the projection of confidence that other DeSantis aides often adopt. Cortes did say he thought the gap between Trump and DeSantis could be closed once DeSantis’ personal and political story is shared more widely on the campaign trail. But he also rationalized a DeSantis primary campaign failure by predicting healthy competition could benefit Trump in a general election.
“If we do not prevail — and I have every intent on winning, I didn’t sign up for this to come in second — but if we do not prevail I will tell you this, we will make President Trump better for having this kind of primary,” Cortes said. ...

"So now, the media, they will never admit they're wrong," Johnson added.
Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson excoriated the media on Monday for minimizing the investigation into first son Hunter Biden and fumed at administration insiders for stifling the investigation.
"It compromises our national security. President Biden never should have been elected," he said of the alleged corruption in the Biden family. "But even more troubling is what this says about our federal law enforcement or intelligence agencies, the complicity and corruption of the media, covering all this up and orchestrating it all."
Johnson made the remarks during an interview with "Just the News, No Noise" to air on Monday.
"I also heard last week of mainstream media saying if this were any other ordinary American, there never would have been any charges against Hunter Biden, his tax offenses were so minimal... And we know from good reporting from from people like John Solomon and others, Hunter Biden probably hasn't paid taxes on a whole lot of other under unreported income as well," he went on.
"So now, the media, they will never admit they're wrong," Johnson added. "They're going to continue to minimize the behavior, the Biden's are going to continue to cover up for them. Because let's face it, they helped get this guy elected. And even they have to understand what a disaster his presidency has been for this country."
The Wisconsin Republican went on to highlight the importance of exposing the alleged wrongdoing as a crucial step in holding the administration accountable. He did, however, concede that powerful actors within the government had worked relentlessly to undermine efforts to expose the Biden family.
"Well, you have to first expose it. Now, one thing I don't think we're paying enough attention to is an awful lot of this obstruction occurred under the Trump administration," Johnson said. "And trust me President Trump wanted this information out, I'm sure he would have liked to have seen an honest investigation prosecution of Hunter Biden. But that just shows you how pervasive and extensive the deep state is."
"The Radical Left partisans have infiltrated every institution of this country, including our our federal government agencies. And this is just further evidence of that," he asserted.
He went on to express hope that the judge would reject a lenient plea agreement that Hunter Biden reached with the Department of Justice to avoid any jail time, suggesting that the bombshell whistleblower revelations ought to weigh on the judge when deciding whether to bless the arrangement.
In late June, Biden struck a deal with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to two tax crimes and a gun charge that could be dismissed. The government recommends that he receive probation.

May 26 (Reuters) - Ukraine's defence ministry on Friday said Russia was planning to simulate a major accident at a nuclear power station controlled by pro-Moscow forces to try to thwart a long-planned Ukrainian counteroffensive to retake territory occupied by Russia.
The Zaporizhzhia plant, which lies in an area of Russian-occupied southern Ukraine, is Europe's biggest nuclear power station and the area has been repeatedly hit by shelling that both sides blame each other for.

The defence ministry's intelligence directorate said Russian forces would soon shell the plant and then announce a radiation leak. This would force an investigation by international authorities, during which all hostilities would be stopped.
The directorate statement, posted on Telegram, did not provide any proof. It said Russia had disrupted the planned rotation of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency, who are based at the plant.
The Vienna-based IAEA, which frequently posts updates on the plant, has made no mention of any disruption.
Last week witnesses said Russian military forces had been enhancing defensive positions in and around the plant ahead of the counter-offensive.
In October 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged the West to warn Russia not to blow up a dam that would flood a large area. The dam was not destroyed.

In February, Russia said Ukraine was planning to stage a nuclear incident on its territory to pin the blame on Moscow.
Russia has repeatedly accused Kyiv of planning "false flag" operations with non-conventional weapons, using biological or radioactive materials. No such attack has materialised.

Calls to detail punishments for public servants involved in child abuse allegations
Almost 50 public servants have been suspended from duty over child sexual abuse allegations, but the departments they work in and any punishments imposed have not been made public
Tasmanian public servants involved in child sexual abuse allegations who have been found in breach of their code of conduct should have their punishments made public, a sexual assault service says.
Since December 2020, 48 state public servants have been stood down over child sexual abuse allegations.
Only 17 investigations have been completed, with five public servants found to have breached the code of conduct in relation to child sexual abuse.
There were 12 cases where no breach was found and the public servant was cleared to return to work.
Little is known about the suspended public servants — an online breakdown only details how many are located in the north or south, and how many have occurred before or after 2018.
Laurel House chief executive Kathyrn Fordyce said at a minimum, the sanctions handed down to public servants found to have breached the code of conduct should be made public.
"I think it's really important that everyone understands the potential consequences of that kind of conduct," she said.
"It can help to warn people that there are consequences to your actions but it also helps victim-survivors to know perpetrators will be held accountable for things that they have done to them."
Ms Fordyce said a breakdown of which departments the suspended public servants worked in should also be made public, arguing it would help to build public trust that the Commission of Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse was leading to change.
"It's important people know where these allegations have occurred and where the suspensions have occurred," she said.
"We've heard stories about [Ashley Youth Detention Centre], now hopefully a number of the suspensions relate to the circumstances in Ashley but without that level of data, we don't know.
"We know that there are such high levels of child sexual abuse in our community and we know the long-term consequences of child sexual abuse … so the more data that we have to build public confidence and to help people see how governments hold themselves accountable to protecting children is really important."
A Department of Premier and Cabinet spokeswoman said the level of detail made publicly available "balances matters of natural justice and due process with transparency and the public's clear interest in this matter".
"Any release of finer details than those currently released may have the potential to prejudice legal proceedings, the potential to identify the person or the inadvertent consequence of the identification of a victim survivor," the spokeswoman said.
"This position is based on legal advice."

Hunter Biden’s finalized paternity agreement with Lunden Roberts specifies the use of the first son’s paintings as a means to pay at least some of his child support.
Hunter Biden’s paternity agreement states:

The child shall select the painting which shall either be sent to the child or sent to a gallery designated by Lunden Roberts. The net proceeds of any sales of paintings shall be wired to an account designated by Lunden Roberts.
The art industry is known for shady business transactions. A Senate subcommittee report detailed in 2020 how the art market serves as a vehicle for money laundering:
The art industry is considered the largest, legal unregulated industry in the United States. Unlike financial institutions, the art industry is not subject to Bank Secrecy Act’s (“BSA”) requirements, which mandate detailed procedures to prevent money laundering and to verify a customer’s identity. While the BSA does not apply to art transactions by art dealers and auction houses, sanctions do. No U.S. person or entity is allowed to do business with a sanctioned individual or entity.

While the art market is not regulated by the BSA, it is governed by unwritten rules. A large number of art sales happen through intermediaries referred to as “art advisors” who can represent both purchasers and sellers. In a typical transaction, a purchaser may not ask who owns the piece of art they are purchasing; the seller may not ask for whom it is being purchased or the origin of the money. And in general an art advisor would be reluctant to reveal the identity of their client for fear of being cut out of the deal and losing the business.

A private dealer interviewed by the Subcommittee stated she had no written AML policies, tries to work with people she knows and trusts, looks for red flags, and relies on her gut. She also explained that her practices have significantly changed over the years and that she also relies on advice from AML lawyers.
Secrecy, anonymity, and a lack of regulation create an environment ripe for laundering money and evading sanctions.
Adam Thompson, a prominent artist from Miami, told Breitbart News that Hunter Biden is trying to cash in on his infamous, scandal-ridden history by using an unregulated market. Without such notoriety in a shady industry, Hunter Biden’s art would be worth nearly nothing and his daughter would receive a raw deal.

In total, Hunter Biden anonymously sold about 12 paintings for less than $500,000, the Washington Post reported. It is unclear how much money the art generated at the sale, but estimates suggest he earned at least five times more than the average American artist — all while being a novice painter.

Ukrainian president admitted to having close ties with the US agency but wants them to remain “behind the scenes”
Kiev does not keep “any secrets” from the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), President Vladimir Zelensky has admitted. He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with CNN, aired on Monday, expressing “surprise” that his recent meeting with CIA boss William Burns got into the media limelight.
“My communication with the CIA chief should always be behind the scenes. We discuss important things – what Ukraine needs and how Ukraine is prepared to act,” Zelensky stated.
Kiev remains in close cooperation with the American spy agency, Zelensky admitted, adding that the country virtually has no secrets from the CIA. Ukrainian spy agencies maintain contacts with the CIA, he added, without specifying the agencies in question.
We don’t have any secrets from the CIA because we have good relations and our intelligence services talk with each other.
“The situation is pretty straightforward. We have good relations with the CIA chief, and we are talking. I told him about all the important things related to the battlefield that we need,”Zelensky explained.
Media in America reported on Burns’ most recent visit of the to Kiev over the weekend. Apart from meeting Zelensky himself, the agency director was said to have also held talks with unspecified Ukrainian intelligence officials.
Director Burns recently traveled to Ukraine, as he has done regularly since the beginning of Russia’s recent aggression more than a year ago,” an anonymous US official told CNN. “As with other trips, the director met with his Ukrainian intelligence counterparts and President Zelensky, reaffirming the US commitment to sharing intelligence to help Ukraine defend against Russian aggression.”
Apart from acknowledging Kiev’s close ties with the CIA, Zelensky reiterated his war goals, once again pledging to conquer the Crimean Peninsula. Crimea split from Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2014 Maidan coup, voting overwhelmingly to rejoin Russia in a referendum.
“We cannot imagine Ukraine without Crimea. And while Crimea is under Russian occupation, it means only one thing: the war is not over yet,” Zelensky stressed, addingthat any scenario without seizing Crimea from Russia would not count as a “victory” for the country.

The Ukrainian president believes Kiev cannot achieve “victory” without seizing the peninsula from Russia
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky “cannot imagine” the country without the Crimean peninsula, and any scenario without conquering it would not count as a “victory” for Kiev. Zelensky made the remarks in an exclusive interview with CNN, which aired on Monday.
“We cannot imagine Ukraine without Crimea. And while Crimea is under Russian occupation, it means only one thing: The war is not over yet,” he stated.
Zelensky ruled out achieving peace without conquering the peninsula somehow. “It will not be a victory then,” he insisted, doubling down on the repeated promise by the country’s top officials to take Crimea back from Russia.
Moscow has condemned the remarks, with Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stating thatsuch pledges only further expose the “Nazi essence” of Zelensky’s regime.
“For many years [Zelensky] imagined Crimea without water. And now even without the Crimeans,” Zakharova wrote in a Telegram post, referring to the years-long water blockade imposed by Kiev on the peninsula, as well as repeated promises by top Ukrainian officials to persecute its residents for “collaborating” with Russia. “That’s the Nazi essence of the little Kiev Napoleon,” she added, in an apparent reference to the Napoleon role played by Zelensky during his time as a comedian.
Crimea broke away from Ukraine shortly after the 2014 Maidan coup, which deposed the democratically-elected Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich. Afterwards, the peninsula joined Russia, with its population overwhelmingly backing the reunification idea during a referendum.
Since then, seizing Crimea back from Russia has become a top talking point for Ukrainian officials.

Now that George Soros is 92 years old, he is passing control of his global operation to his son Alex, who is reportedly more radical than he is.
Things can’t be going too well at the organization however, because they are preparing to cut their staff by up to 40 percent.
Perhaps they are looking to consolidate so they can devote more funds to interfering in American politics.
Soros’ Foundations to Cut 40% of Staff After Handover to Son
Open Society Foundations, the nonprofit founded by billionaire George Soros, plans to cut at least 40% of its staff in the coming months.
The charity, which earlier this month confirmed Soros, 92, was handing control to his son Alex, said Friday its board approved “significant changes” to its operating model. That includes “a substantial reduction in headcount of no less than 40% globally,” according to a spokesperson.
Soros has donated more than $32 billion to the nonprofit, which had more than 500 employees as of the end of 2021 and gives money to humanitarian and democratic causes ranging from criminal justice reform to climate change initiatives. It currently controls the majority of assets managed by his $25 billion family office.
“The Board aims to transform operations across the global network, with the goal of generating a nimbler organization,” said a statement, signed by the younger Soros and the nonprofit’s president Mark Malloch-Brown. “While Open Society works on these internal changes, the Board remains firmly committed to the Foundations’ core priorities — democracy, human rights, climate justice, and addressing inequity.”
This is the most telling part of the report:
The nonprofit’s biggest expense in 2021 was compensation, according to its most recently available tax form. It spent almost $72 million on pay and another $40 million on benefits and pension plans.

A top official for Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) PAC said the Florida governor faces an “uphill battle” in the 2024 GOP presidential race, adding, “Trump is the runaway front-runner.”
Steve Cortes, who once served as a campaign adviser to former President Donald Trump, admitted on a Twitter Spaces session Sunday night thatDeSantis is not faring well in the key nominating states, Politico reported.
“Right now in national polling, we are way behind, I’ll be the first to admit that,” said Cortes. “I believe in being blunt and honest. It’s an uphill battle, but clearly Donald Trump is the runaway front-runner.”
“In the first four states which matter tremendously, polls are a lot tighter, we are still clearly down.We’re down double digits; we have work to do,” Cortes added.
The four early presidential primary states for the 2024 election are Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina, all of which see DeSantis trailing Trump by a considerable amount.
The ex-Trump adviser said DeSantis could better compete with Trump once voters understand where the governor is coming from and what he wants to accomplish during a possible presidency. However, Cortes expressed concern that healthy competition between the two GOP candidates could win Trump the general election in the end.
“If we do not prevail — and I have every intent on winning, I didn’t sign up for this to come in second — but if we do not prevail, I will tell you this, we will make President Trump better for having this kind of primary,” he said.
Despite previously working for Trump, Cortes was one of the many to endorse DeSantis, saying in May he is the "best possible option to win the presidency in 2024."
When asked to comment, Bryan Griffin, press secretary for the Florida governor’s presidential campaign, expressed full confidence in DeSantis’s bid for the 2024 presidency against Trump, saying the governor “has been underestimated in every race he has won, and this time will be no different.
“Donald Trump has to explain to Republican voters why he didn't do the things he is now promising in his first term as president,” Griffin told the Washington Examiner. “Governor Ron DeSantis over-delivered on his promises as governor and has the national vision we need to restore our country, clean out DC, and lead our Great American Comeback.This campaign is a marathon, not a sprint; we will be victorious.” (Kek says the billionaire wasting millions!)

When Eduardo Verastegui learned about Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization that works to save children from sex trafficking, he knew he wanted to tell its story. Specifically, he wanted to tell the story of Tim Ballard, its founder and CEO.
Ballard had spent more than a decade at the Department of Homeland Security, where he worked on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. When he realized that there were real children who couldn’t be saved without cutting an impossible amount of government red tape, he left in 2013 to create OUR, which boasts 4,000-plus predators arrested and 6,000-plus survivors recovered.
In addition to aftercare and preventative efforts, its website notes, the organization goes “to the darkest corners of the world to assist law enforcement in rescuing children.”
Statistics on human trafficking are hard to compile, but theState Department reportsthat it has 27.6 million global victims. Many of these are children, and many of them are continuing to be exploited right here in the U.S., not just through physical violence, but also a seemingly endless supply of child pornography. (OUR claims that “Americans are some of the top consumers AND producers of child pornography.”)
So when Verastegui, a film producer, heard about Ballard’s story and the problem of child sex trafficking in the U.S., he thought, “I am a filmmaker. I ask myself, ‘What can I do?’ A movie. I have a weapon of mass instruction, and inspiration.”
At the premiere of the finished movie, Sound of Freedom, in Washington, D.C., Verastegui told the Washington Examiner that this all happened eight years ago, so even after the film was finished in 2018, there was no one who wanted to distribute it for years. Netflix passed. Amazon passed. Every studio was worried about losing money.
“That,” Verastegui said, “broke my heart.”
He said that people who saw the film cried; some gave it a standing ovation. But the “experts” didn’t seem to get it. “Something’s weird here,” he said.
It didn’t matter that Sound of Freedomfocused on high-stakes drama, showing Ballard (played by The Passion of the Christ’s Jim Caviezel) and his partners working with local government officials in South America to lure pimps and pedophiles and rescue the children in their clutches before it’s too late — like if Taken were based on a true, gut-wrenching story.
Then Verastegui met Neal Harmon, co-founder and CEO of Angel Studios, last fall. Angel Studios is the crowd-funded media company famous for distributing The Chosen, a TV show about the life of Jesus Christ. A few months after meeting Harmon, Verastegui pitched Angel Studios on the film, and things moved quickly. After the studio showed the film to investors who were enthusiastic about the project, it agreed in March to distribute Sound of Freedom.
Jordan Harmon, brother of Neal and co-founder of Angel Studios, told the Washington Examiner that in fewer than 10 days, some 7,200 people invested $5 million in a fund to get the movie “out into the world.”
Now filmmakers are hoping that the movie, which comes out Tuesday, July 4, will draw 2 million viewers at its theatrical release to represent the 2 million children trafficked globally. But they emphasize that the point of the movie isn’t to preach to its viewers.
“When you go to a movie and you buy a ticket, you don’t go to be preached at; you go to be entertained,” the film’s director, Alejandro Monteverde, told the Washington Examiner. “So my goal as a filmmaker is how can I take entertainment and marry it to meaning?”
Monteverde describes himself as a “lone wolf,” saying the people the filmmakers originally tried to partner with for the film didn't understand its meaning — until Angel Studios.
“As a filmmaker, as a storyteller, I realized that a lot of my peers were doing one type of a film as a voice — not as a genre, but as a voice,” he said. “I realized that I wanted to go in a different direction. I wanted to make films that I was called to make.”
The film’s eight-year journey from an idea to a two-hour-long product ready to be released in theaters has been anything but orthodox. Monteverde admits that even the release date — July 4 — may be risky, but as a self-proclaimed underdog, he welcomes the challenge.“The bigger the giant, the greater the glory,” he said. “I’m like, ‘Bring it on. Let’s see what happens.’”

Curiously, there hasn’t been a lot of news coverage of this incident. This seems odd because the evacuation of the White House and the response of a Hazmat team seems like a significant story. It’s true that the item was eventually deemed to be “non-hazardous” by D.C. Emergency Medical officials, but that’s not the whole story.
An audio recording from D.C. Fire Hazmat revealed the test results showed the substance found was cocaine hydrochloride.

Last Thursday, Blumenthal gave a presentation to the UN Security Council. The presentation was prepared with the help of Wyatt Reed, Alex Rubinstein and Anya Parampil.
Wyatt has first-hand experience with the subject of the presentation, Blumenthal explained, “as a journalist whose hotel in Donetsk was targeted with a US-made howitzer by the Ukrainian military in October 2022. He was 100 meters away when the strike hit, and was nearly killed.”
On 28 June, the US Pentagon announced plans to send an additional $500 million worth of military aid to Ukraine. A little over two weeks earlier, on 12 June, Kiev “lost” 16 US-made armoured vehicles. “So, what did the Pentagon do? It simply passed that bill down to average US taxpayers like myself, charging us another $325 million to replace Ukraine’s squandered military stock,” Blumenthal said.
“The US policy [ ] – which sees Washington prioritise unrestrained funding for a proxy war with a nuclear power in a foreign land while our own domestic infrastructure falls apart before our eyes – exposes a disturbing dynamic at the heart of the Ukraine conflict: an international Ponzi scheme that enables Western elites to seize hard-earned wealth out of the hands of average US citizens and funnel it into the coffers of a foreign government that even the Western-sponsored Transparency International ranks as one of the most corrupt in Europe.”
Last week, The Grayzone published an independent audit of US tax dollar allocation to Ukraine during the fiscal years 2022 and 2023. Their investigation revealed, amongst others:
$4.5 billion worth of payments to pay off Ukraine’s sovereign debt, much of which is owned by the global investment firm BlackRock.
Tax dollars earmarked for Ukraine padding the budgets of a television station in Toronto, a pro-NATO think tank in Poland, and, believe it or not, rural farmers in Kenya.
Tens of millions of dollars went to private equity firms, including one in the Republic of Georgia, as well as a million-dollar payment to a single private entrepreneur in Kiev.
$4.5 million Pentagon contract with a notoriously corrupt company called Atlantic Diving Supply to provide Ukraine with unspecified explosives equipment.
“Yet once again, Congress has failed to ensure these shady payments and massive arms deals are properly tracked,” Blumenthal said. “In fact, much of the military and humanitarian aid shipped to Ukraine has simply vanished.”
“The embezzlement of funds and supplies is at least as troubling as the potential consequences of the illicit transfer and sales of military-grade weapons. Last June, the head of Interpol warned that the massive transfers of arms into Ukraine means ‘we can expect an influx of weapons in Europe and beyond’, and that ‘criminals are even now, as we speak, focusing on them’.
“The Biden administration not only knows that it cannot track the weapons it is shipping to Ukraine, it knows it is escalating a proxy war against the world’s largest nuclear power, and is daring it to respond in kind.”
Blumenthal noted that Ukraine was well on its way to fulfilling Senator Lindsey Graham’s ghoulish fantasies about the US fighting “this war to the last Ukrainian.”

Zelensky is now straight up admitting to directly working with the CIA.
He just told CNN that there will be no victory in Ukraine until they retake Crimea, that he and the United States CIA withhold no secrets together, and there is no situation where there can be peace unless they retake Crimea!
Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
No sign of a peace deal and the CIA is once again working to foster bloodshed in foreign countries. It's almost too obvious at this point that this entire war is a sham and Zelensky doesn't care for the well-being of his people nor their safety.
The warmongering is blatant.
