It's a slice of life show in which the majority of the main characters have already more or less realized their potential. It's not an epic coherent adventure, it doesn't need an explicit, fatalistic ending. Just have the mane 6 beat Grognar, slap one of Ingram's masterpieces on and you're done. It would take more effort to fuck this up.

We're dealing with the kind of people who put an episode like MMM in season 3 of a 9 season show. Their idea of good story telling is the student 6 FFS. Assuming they can't and won't fuck up the end of the show is akin to trying to wrestle an oncoming train. It's guaranteed to fail.
The only safe assumption at this point is that some overly woke jackass in the production is going to try to pull something like the lesbian kiss from the last episode of adventure time. Some work bullshit the network would never allow, snuck in in the last second when everything is over so there's no time for the inevitable repercussions.
