Do you think the cast has some sort of unique talent or range that would prevent imitation to the point of perfection? Twili is a hard case. Tara Weak as a "person" is pure shit, the typical neurotic lefitst jew and the reason I memed about Twili being a jew horse before she chose me and became my waifu, but I have a hard time imagining any other voice for her.
I get why they're reusing the same main characters, so they can keep selling the same toys, but the only way a sequel series could make any sort of sense is if it focused on a new cast. What they could have done is brought up the CMC as half the main characters. That's so simple. It even ties into their coming of age. The G4 mane six are all busy with their own shit and are getting older. A princess, a wonderbolt, a successful and busy farmer, a town-wide party planner, a fashion designer with a bonafide franchise, a veterinarian and animal psychologist. Even if you throw out the absolutely retarded friendship school trash that's illogical on every single level, the main cast are incredibly busy ponies.
I have no doubt they'd still have important things to do relative to their special position. Another villain could come up. But especially if they're going to continue with their even bigger focus on lazy slice of life shit (and they absolutely are, given their usual big adventure episode slot in the premiere was instead some lame school opening with the "villain" being an ethnonationalist that cares about the sanctity and safety of equestria), it would make more sense to focus on the CMC and whoever the three others would be doing slice of life stuff and bringing in the G4 mane six for background stuff, advice giving, the rare adventure pones episodes.
Now ideally, the new cast would have the same composition as the G4 mane six. Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom comprise each of the three pony ethnicities, and we'd need one more of each. If they did this plan they'd probably throw that out to make Trixie, Sunburst, and especially Glimmer the rest of the main cast in the best of cases, or a zigger, a changeling, and a griffon in the worst case. Either way it would at least make more sense story-wise than just resetting everything just so hasbro can save some shekels on toy manufacturing and keep selling the same figurines with G3 and prior looking designs in perpetuity.

With all said, crowdfunding sites like patreon are doing more hurt than "helping" projects with their rules and term of services as artist can't make what they want without getting a warning or straight up deleting their whole page. Hell even the patrons can't allow any liberty as making something that might upset them will mean stopping supporting your work and hurting your monthly income.
Y'know, it will be a great idea if those games allow mods to add the characters we want without any of the devs restrictions and being competent enough to write and drawn our paths with any character in mind.
