I think that line of thought/analysis is what made these staffers and Trump himself come to a grinding halt on wanting to attack Iran with Israel.
The US has way way too much social/political instability and division to survive some massive Iranian attack on our electric grid, other infrastructure, and industry.
And they probably figured that Russia, China, and an assortment of other elements inside the US would fan the flames of economic and social disintegration of the USA.

However, everyone appears to be learning FOR THE FIRST FUCKING TIME that Presidents have no say in that. Why is the DoD no longer doing any major military deployments, I don’t know — budget issue maybe?
