I prefer rural America. So much more laid back. Most people don't give you any hard time and leave you alone as long as you leave them alone. The likelihood of being bothered is very slim, lower crime rates, less taxes, less zoning laws or permits needed for basic tasks, etc.

Jim Stone moved to Mexico many years ago and he said it's not all that bad depending where you move. He says meat and basic foods are a whole lot cheaper than they are in the US. He says living expenses are overall cheaper too. The downside: you're a minority there, anything more powerful than a .22 caliber gun is prohibited (and just to own that you need extensive background checks). If you want to lay low and live frugal, a small Mexican town may be the way to go, although you should do research on the history of cartel violence and avoid those areas at all cost.

Mexico: much cheaper to live (good) but your a minority (bad). You must conform to their laws. While you might be safe in some places in Mexico and get to live good for half the cost, cartel violence is rampant in certain areas and has been known to spread to others and that is very risky. You'll definitely need to start learning Spanish too. Fiat dollars won't last you forever, once our currency faces hyperinflation, and then it's off to hard labor gringo!

That being said, it is much much safer simply moving out of State in a more rural area, even if you can only afford an RV or trailer.

If you have some savings to move, certain places in Mexico from what I heard are literally 100x better than living in most populated places in the US today. Jim Stone who fled to Mexico said the prices are dirt cheap there, even for food, much much cheaper than in the US. Yes he posted pictures of beef prices before to prove it. I haven't taken a single vaccine since I was a kid, back then there were only very basic vaccines and you only need ONE shot per disease. Ever since 9/11 with the microwave ovens (proven-ineffective body scanners that can't even detect guns properly) being installed at airports by the TSA I have avoided traveling by air. I have no need to visit another country, most have fallen into total third world police states anyway (thanks again, government!)
