That's not true. We Gen Xers started with a deanonymized internet. The early days of the internet required you to have a legit credit card and - in many cases - show proof of your actual State issued ID to sign up for services. We had to dial in to our ISP using our actual phone. There was no such thing as a VPN. There was no Tor. Zoomers don't understand the value of having a completely detached online persona that can't be traced back to you except by querying ISP records or by something like analyzing your writing style.
