At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, 26 foreign heads of state and government will attend the 80th anniversary commemoration of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing.
Among the attendees are Russian President Vladimir Putin and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un, underscoring the close ties between China, Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Leaders from a number of Islamic nations, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives, will also be present, highlighting broad participation from across the Muslim world.
Other leaders joining the event include heads of state and government from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Serbia, Slovakia, Cuba, Zimbabwe, and the Republic of the Congo.
In addition, several parliamentary leaders, deputy prime ministers, senior representatives, international organization chiefs and former political figures will attend the commemorations.
The 80th anniversary activities will feature a solemn ceremony, a gathering in Beijing, and cultural and academic events. President Xi is expected to deliver an important address, calling for peace, unity, and global cooperation.
