Two opposing armed militias are expected to face off this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, amid demonstrations over the fatal police shooting of Breonna Taylor.
The NFAC (Not F—ing Around Coalition), an Atlanta-based black militia, is scheduled to protest to demand the arrest of the officers who shot and killed Taylor in March, according to the Courier-Journal. The far-right "Three Percenter" militia started rallying support for a counterprotest to provide "security" after John "Grandmaster Jay" Johnson, the founder of the NFAC, said that his group would be dressed in black with shotguns and semi-automatic rifles.
"We're there to get an answer, not to fight a war. This is for Bre," Johnson said in a video posted online Thursday night. "It's always scary when black folks do it. But when everybody else do it, they don't have a problem at all. They want to go up to the statehouse and stand around with guns, and nobody says a word. But as soon as we do it, we're terrorists, and we're thugs."
The III% Security Force asked militia members to counter the NFAC and provide "security." Chris Hill, who is reportedly a member of the group, said on social media, "I ain't f-ing around, neither. And I've got some hard-headed motherf-ers coming with me."
Louisville Metro Police Maj. Aubrey Gregory said he expects the protests to be peaceful.
“Everything from the Kentucky militia, Mississippi militia, a group that calls themselves the Patriots for Reclamation, a lot of Three Percent groups, One Percent groups, from as far away as Kansas,” Gregory told WAVE3 of Louisville. “We have been in contact with both groups coming to Louisville, and we expect nothing but a peaceful protest this weekend.”
Johnson told city officials that he expects 5,000 to 6,000 militia members to show up for the event.
