while studying in Al-Azhar university, he wrote a book critiquing an article by Al-Azhar scholar Yusuf al-Degwy. al-Degwy wrote a book about the ignorance of wahhabist thought, which in turn lead al-Qasemi to write more books attacking him and al-azhar thought.
