Consider what would happen if Hillary tried to ban guns in any way. Anything she tried would have been filibustered by congress, but lets say she somehow got a dem supermajority in both houses. Say she actually managed to pass some gun control legislation, something analagous to the bump stock ban. You wouldn't have legions of fudds defending it like you do now because they would hate her and look for any excuse to hate her more, and the more they see legal gunowners being punished by a government they hate the easier it would be to radicalize them.
