I think generally speaking, not really. Especially if use the type of typical file with an indcution, body, and awakener.
But from Personal experience, I found loopy files similar to what you get you get from Mind Erasure (aka nueral nets and pretty patterns) or B4amiSleep: sleep loop to be effective as you just listen to them and drift off.
It also helps a lot if you resist the urge to sleep and try trance and fall deep with the file.
One trick to make it more effective is to set an alarm an hour or 2 after you fall asleep to interrupt your REM sleep. Waking you up so you can keep playing the files. This can be very disorienting and make these "loopy" type files much more effective as it some times it feels it blends with your sleep and dreams.
Though keep in mind missing with your sleep like that will make it less restful and you will feel more tired and dazed the next day (which is kind of part of the fun sometime, even though its tiring) so make sure you dont have a busy day.
This is my personal experience tho and I am curious if anyone else shares similar results
