the problems here are mostly the credit card companies/the laws they have to adhere to in some countries.
If you sell your products as hypnosis/mindcontrol/whatever the person that bought it with credit card can later dispute any of these payments by saying "but i was mindcontrolled/coerced". The credit card company will then refund the money and the payment processor will incur a loss. Atleast if the content creator is not able to/will not pay the money back for some reason. Since these claims will usually not happen directly after the purchase, but can happen months/years later, the amounts can be pretty big, most payment processors dont want to handle that kind of risk.
This is why the word "hypnosis" is banned on basically all adult/erotic clip stores and im sure for patreon it is a similiar reason.
Sites like tumblr banning it is just stupid bias in my opinion.

Im not sure if there are such cases, that are publicly available. However in many countries "hypnosis" is a standardized therapeutical term for which you can receive recognized certifications and training. So from a law perspective it is acknowledged that it works. While other terms like "mesmerize" are just hocuspocus and dont work (from the perspective of the law).
