This is by far the best thing you can do as a new writer. Get your bearings with small scenes and additions first to get a taste of it all and spread out from there. Writing a massive chunk of content for your first time is an almost surefire way to burn yourself out at all stages involved in writing.

Hell, you don't even have to start out with scenes. Things like te bazaar are still lacking tooltips all over. Evn something as small and seemingly inimportant can have a big effect on usability and to get some experience writing, especially when the bazaar is slated to get an overhaul in the near future to make it less of a mess. I think tooltips were discussed in the previous thread, so just use ctrl + F and search for "tooltip" in it.

It's an interesting and kind of fundamental problem to consider with this type of game though isn't it, and I wonder if there's not some way to address it, even partially. Essentially CoC is lots of text smut unlocked through a basic RPG interface. The actual writing is extremely specific and tends to stick in one's mind, so once you've read a scene, the impact is greatly lessened on subsequent reads (unless I guess it is something you're really into and it is written well). This is in contrast to other porn games like say for example Free Cities which are by their nature simulations and suffer less from this, although they have their own slew of problems, such as once the simulation itself gets stale, well, you can't really just add a new simulation like you can add a new character in CoC.

I don't really have a 100% solution to this problem myself other than tons of extra work adding variations and randomness and branches to scenes. I'm experimenting with a new character and trying for a somewhat different, long-term simulation-esque experience with her that maybe won't get stale too quickly and wondering if anyone has thoughts on this as well.

Essentially the problem is trying to get more "content" out of less work on our part. The ultimate would be an AI generating perfectly sensible and extremely interesting and believeable stories, but that's probably not going to be happening for this game. Coding small, random changes to words like changing a few synonyms here has helped in my past experiences with this. Scenes that you think are going to be done often (let's say breeding someone until they're pregnant) can also be designed differently with that repetition in mind. They could avoid specific dialogue, and they could be more terse so the user would be less tempted to skip reading them entirely, and this would make creating variations easier as there is less text to vary. You could also have your grandiose setpiece fuckscene version as well as a mechanical version with different buttons.

As a concrete example take Sophie. I am a fan of her scenes in general, but I'm not exactly interested in reading them after round #5 and hearing her repeat the same exact dialogue like a robot. I could just keep clicking the button until she's knocked up but I mean, come on muh immersion. I think a brief, mostly descriptive fuck scene with some random elements such as sex position or specific actions performed during the fuck would serve for repetitive situations such as breeding her. Avoiding specific dialogue like "Your cock reminds me of that mountain I flew over last week!" One good thing about this is if it's given enough variation/randomized, you don't really know what's going to happen, or if you've even seen everything that can happen from this encounter, so you are more interested in trying it again once in awhile.

There's different levels of this as I see it. The lowest and easiest is again just simply changing some words around to other synonyms. Some of the words change, but the overall meaning and consequences of the scene remain the same. Huamns will pick up on this pattern relatively quickly and it won't have that much of an impact in the end. The next level is probably varying the scenes themselves to have different meanings and outcomes. For instance, based on various aspects of your character, NPC mood, player choices, and even time of day and some randomness, the scene ends up with a different outcome. This is a bit harder and much more time consuming to code and test. However, people pick up on it easily enough as well. You will begin to notice, "I press this button, A, B, or C is the result." Unfortunately anything more sophisticated than that is also probably impossible for a game like this with just a sparse few modders, as most everything is specifically hand-written and you will certainly end up with nonsense if you try to combine it all in a too-complex way.

I'm not sure there is, at least not easily. Procedurally generated scenes like LT or DoL end up just as repetitive (and are generally not terribly erotic writing-wise, at least to me), and even something complicated like AI dungeon often winds up as nonsense, so I feel it's hard to improve on the pre-written scenes we already use. And if we do that, especially considering the average length of a CoC scene, a choice maybe extends the replayability a little bit, but once the player's tried all three options they're back to the same point. Even if we had writers do multiple version of a scene to play randomly (and that comes with it's own problems of cat-herding and taking away the player's ability to see the scene they really like or avoid the one they don't), once you've seen them all, you've still seen them all. It does kind of work, though, at least for scenes short enough to have a lot of possibilites as the guy who missed the shark tug-of-war can attest.

I guess adding more rare, random scenes like the ones currently at camp (Helspawn interacting with Kid A type) could help a little. Like if you went to the gargoyle, say, and Amily could be there rarely and you'd get a special one-time talk scene or something. Even that only works inside your camp, too, as you can't bring people with you for a lot of reasons, so I don't really have anything either. I'd love to see how you're going about it, though.

Interesting, these (scenes done not because the player is necessarily desiring to see them, but for a mechanics reason) seem like the scenes least worth reworking. Take masturbation, for instance. It has a ton of variation depending on player customization, including things that rarely are used elsewhere, yet I can't remember the last time I've bothered to read it. I don't click masturbate because I want the scene, I click it to reset my lust, and I'm not sure we can fix that. At least someone talking to the gargoyle or raping a goblin in the ass probably did so to see what happens.

Corruption of Champions would be better without corruption. Having it as an ingame stat without firmly establishing whether it refers to the influence and sway of demonic magic, or simply a tendency to make morally bad decisions, was an incredible mistake and can only be corrected at this point by scrapping the system entirely. It makes perfect sense that the player character can be free of any demonic influence and also want to ass-rape Rebecc.

At the risk of putting my foot firmly in my mouth, I think someone interested in doing this wouldn't actually need to write many scenes. The easiest way would be to put shotas on the female path, except instead of confessing her love at the end, she'd reluctantly ask you for help. Give them an option to offer earlier, even if she wouldn't accept, and you'd be down to two short-ish scenes to create from scratch, some minor edits to places that refer to you as a girl, and the sex, where you would admittedly have to go through and add shota stuff. Once she becomes your lover (or your slave), she's presumably cool with little boys, so this would only be the pre-camp scenes.

Personally, I find Fall of Eden to be a good example of how I like sex scenes to play out. It takes control of the scene to give us something coherent and enjoyable, but also allows for enough player input that we never get sidelined by dumb shit we didn't want.

Sort of sets up each sex scene as a short CYOA scenario where you have control of what is happening and how your character feels about the situation, but you don't have to micromanage every little detail in a procedurally generated mess.
