What MUCKs do you use? What IRC channels do you use, whether they be on anthrochat, furnet, or elsewhere? Do you use any XMPP group chats?
These places were the home of furries for a long time, and they can be our home again. They're places where free discussion is easy, the clients are open-source, and the moderation isn't totalitarian.
It's possible to leave Telegram and Discord entirely behind, and achieve a more fulfilling, stress-free life.

What network would you want it on? anthrochat and rizon are good options. furnet kinda sucks, for running channels and for privacy.
I'll make a channel by tomorrow on anthrochat if no-one else has by then.

>not using your IRC client's ignore function
At the worst, there could be multiple channels, with one set moderated/muted for emergencies like that.

Rizon and Anthrochat both seem like decent options. I'm split between them, but anthrochat is more clear about how exactly they run things. Either way, it really depends more on how the IRC channel itself is run.

I like IRC and XMPP because I can use my own client. MUCKs don't let you use your own client though, that sucks.

That's not the same thing. The UI is still controlled by the server. There's no underlying protocol between you and the server, just the server sending you a bunch of text laid out in very specific ways, and you sending back some keystrokes.

Become a coder, tell the MUCK to prefix things for you. But you're really griping about the one selling point of MUCKs, an interface so dead simple even blind people can use it (via speech synthesis).

Ah, yes, you are right. It's just telnet, there is no other protocol than plain text. Some people are trying to develop various successors to MUCKs which change this, but none of them are popular yet.
>>107602
I know multiple blind MUCKers, who do enjoy it. Though the other anon is right, an IRC client designed for blind people could give blind people greater control than blind people have on a MUCK. If someone decides to draw ascii art for his character's description on a MUCK, people on speech synthesis or braille displays are fucked.

Made an IRC channel: #8chan on anthrochat.
Webclient if you want to use it:
https://chat.anthrochat.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc-0.5.11/irc.cgi?chan=%238chan
Connection info otherwise:
https://www.anthrochat.net/
I haven't registered the channel yet, since I don't think moderation will be necessary, as of now. That can always be done later.

i don't know how to relax and my general experience with IRC channels has been that it's impossible to penetrate the inner cliques, or at least i'm not outgoing enough to do it.

I know that, I am in several IRC Networks. That never mattered for Furnet, where it seemed every deizen was fucked in the head. I was actually planning to meet IRL with someone, then it was called off, then he avoided me for months until I found out he was pissed at me. Same story fr another. We meet, we have a good time, he lies and says he likes me, he avoids me for three months, then he tells me I'm stupid and he's been avoiding me. I will not apologize for other people's retardation. They both acted like I was wrong. I will not go into further detail out of fear of doxing but it was cancer

Yes, that is the official website. BYOND is closed source but has a ton of documentation to allow you to create all kinds of games and such, and lots of community addons/plugins/mods.

Let the dev language/engine be closed source. It's the MUCK codebase that will be open source the moment a stable version is created with the base desired features. From there, anyone else can modify and link their world to ours to expand the whole thing. Inter-server communications and linking/character transfer is possible. The only real downside is the thing only runs on a single core and is not multi-core optimized, but thanks to the ability to have different servers host a world and link together, we can reduce some of that strain.

Right now:
$ cat .Xresources

I do this specifically to deal with the fact many MUCKers unfortunately use white text as a decoration, which makes it invisible in many terminals. I made that image back when I was still setting explicit bright white to orange rather than bisque.
