Daniel Ricciardo to Renault in 2019

He joins a works team as a number 1 driver. Can Renault produce a good car and engine for him in 2019? Will he be exposed in an inferior car with inferior aerodynamics?

>That pic

Makes me realize how long ago 2001 really was. Him and Raikkonen are basically the last two drivers of my childhood, once they've left the field will be 100% "unrecognizable" to me. Outside of Vettel and Hamilton, I never really took notice of the current generation of drivers. And that's stretching it a little, considering they both had their first race in '07, the year I stopped watching it as much

Also I came to the startling fact that the last F1 driver on the grid to have raced in the 90s was Schumacher in 2012, and he was there for basically the whole decade, compared to professional moving chicane De La Rosa who just got in at '99. Trulli and Barrichello left the year before. Fisichella in 2009. Compare that to the likes of touring car racing, where WTCC from the mid '00s - early '10s was almost primarily made of Supertouring-era BTCC stars e.g. Menu, Rydell, Muller, Tarquini, and you can see how much comparatively shorter careers are in F1.

Tobi Grüner: One secret of the powerful Ferrari engine could be hidden in the special Shell fuel. A molecular additive is so rare & difficult to produce that only Ferrari can use it, not the customer teams.

https://twitter.com/tgruener/status/1032932893528649733

Tobi Grüner: Liberty tries to get all teams to agree to a new Force India rescue plan. The deal would erase all WCC points from the first 12 races [for Force India]. And it would likely cause a driver rotation at Monza: Stroll -> Force India, Kubica -> Williams, Ocon -> McLaren.

BUT…

Looks like Vandoorne can't be kicked out at McLaren easily to make room for Ocon & allowing Stroll switch to Force India. For 2019 we expect Leclerc to step up to Haas. Giovinazzi likely to get Sauber cockpit.

2 year deal

So the only world champions left on the grid are Raikkonen, Hamilton, and Vettel. I wonder how Kimi will race in the next few races. Apparently Vettel was upset in Italy that Kimi isn't supporting him anymore?

Since this is now a Gimi thread.

https://archive.fo/85Z3Q

From Kimi's book:

>Kimi is dyslexic

>He listens to audio books sometimes

>He once slept in a drying cabinet after he’d got wet pretending he was a ski jumper

>He was found sleeping naked in some unknown actor guy’s bed the morning of his first media appearance as a Ferrari driver

>His friend says he’s shit at driving in traffic but he gives off a calm vibe anyway

>He thought Nico R saying he wanted to spend more time with his family when he retired was cool

>Then he got confused bc Nico is still hanging around the paddock after he said that

>He wants to design a normal road car

>He says retiring won’t be hard for him when the day comes

>He never answers his phone so now even his friends won’t call him

>He once hid from the military police by crawling in a ditch bc he was drunk

>The prince of Bahrain arranged a search for a guy who pushed Kimi into a pool in 2012 and ruined his phone

>The guy was the prince’s son’s friend and the prince kicked them both out and apologised to Kimi by flying him home in a private jet

>He pees on his lawn

>He might want to do something marketing related after he retires

>He also pees in his cars sometimes during qualifying because waiting in the car for one hour is apparently too long

>He once tried to go after his bag in the airport scanner thing in Singapore to get pictures of his body and they threatened him with ankle shackles and interrogations

>If Kimi likes a bar, he wants to stay there for a long time. Fifteen hours isn’t unusual.

>The moment Kimi got his driver’s license he dropped out of car mechanic school, packed his Lada and moved to Holland to do karting.

>He drove cars long before getting that license, one time practically destroying the tires of a rental car in Italy because he wanted to drift with it in a roundabout.

>The story about avoiding the military police is actually even better than that: he was drunk and late so he couldn’t use the main entrance, instead choosing to climb over the fence. He and his buddy were seen before they went over, Kimi hid in a ditch while his friend was caught there. Kimi climbed over the fence while the military police was searching for him with dogs and crawled his way back to his barrack, planning to hide there until morning. Unfortunately his mate had told theirs superiors about him so Kimi was caught hiding in his bed muddy and covered in twigs and leaves, also drunk. When his superiors questioned him about how the fuck he got past the dogs he answered: “That’s what you teach us here, we are scouts.” He got confined to barracks for about 20 days which was the new unofficial record.

>Kimi has asthma

>He wants to get a dog after he retires

>Kimi and his buddies found powder used for treating rashes onboard a rental plane. They march through the customs covered in white powder. When asked where they’re coming from, Kimi said: “Colombia”

>2006, Kimi and his buddies want to go cheer for the Finnish national hockey team in the winter Olympics. McLaren borrows them a Mercedes-Benz minivan that isn’t out yet or hasn’t been presented anywhere. On their way to Torino Toni Vilander gets motion sick and throws up on the bonnet. On the way back to Switzerland Kimi feels like the middle console is in his way, rips it off and throws out full speed. Next resting spot the group starts rearranging the letters on the rear end of the car, changing the name. They hide inside when Mercedes’ people come to pick up the car.

698f26 No.66347

>He and Jenni (his ex-wife) both cheated on each other

>When he and Minttu were getting serious he promised her to be a good boyfriend: no cheating and no lying

>Kimi decided to take the risk and invite Minttu over without other ppl bc he had been thinking about her for a month non-stop

>When Robin was born he was a nervous wreck thinking what if something goes wrong, am I going to be any good at this, do I dare to touch him, I’m too scared to try to put clothes on him bc he’s going to break

>First he hoped Robin would sleep, then when Robin did he kept watch to make sure Robin was breathing and that he didn’t roll onto his tummy and suffocate

>Leaving the kids for races is horrible and sickeningly harrowing, especially when Robin is hanging onto his leg til the last minute bc he doesn’t want Kimi to go

>It’s amazing to come home after a week or two to see how much the kids have grown and learned in such a short time

>Kimi and his dad had an unresolved fight over his dad’s drinking before his dad died in 2010

>Rallying helped him process his dad’s death, otherwise he thinks he would have just ended up drinking way too much as well

>In the press conference he was asked what kind of a dad he wants to be and his answer was: “Good and beloved”

>He won’t really care if Robin decides he wants to be an F1 driver but he’ll leave tagging along to the paddock to Minttu

>According to the other new Ferrari boss Louis Camilleri who was invited to their wedding (👀), Kimi gave Minttu a spontaneous 10-minute speech and it was “one of the most beautiful speeches he has ever heard”

>He also says Kimi treats everyone the same whether they’re a CEO or a cleaner, and that while there’s a lot of arrogance in F1, there’s none to be found in Kimi

>Kimi has atopic eczema

>He can’t wear watches bc they irritate his skin and sometimes if you see him scratching his neck after races, it’s bc the eczema has flared up during the race and it’s painful

>Otherwise if you see him scratching his neck while talking to the media, it means he’s pissed off he has to be there according to his mom

>Kimi loves the Finnish singer Irwin Goodman, and has seen the movie made about him, called Rentun ruusu (The Rose of the Rascal), dozens of times

>He and his friends always take a candle to the place where Irwin died to remember him

>His favorite song to sing in karaoke is Paalupaikka (Pole Position) by Kari Tapio bc he relates (read the lyrics)

>He learned English with his host family’s small kids when he moved to England

>He once fixed a broken toilet on a Ferrari bus bc his yacht had the same toilet and the team members were shocked

>He says Ron Dennis is a control freak but it’s not his fault bc he was born like that

>After he was told on the phone his signing to Ferrari for 2014 was finalized, he threw his phone in the sea

>He visits Gino Rosato’s mom during the Canadian GPs bc she likes him

>Robin gets mad when Kimi leaves and is grumpy even for a couple of days after he comes back

>Kimi says he and Minttu are both stubborn and she has this fieriness in her that he likes bc he needs to be put in his place sometimes

>Kimi doesn’t walk, he skips

>“Bad memories can be good memories, too.”

And speaking of choking, Ticktum previously had a strong lead in the F3 championship, but seems to have lost it after lil Schumi has all but clinched the title.

https://autoweek.com/article/formula-one/f1-hopeful-dan-ticktum-says-deck-stacked-against-driver-not-named-schumacher

>Not ideal is the best way I can describe the weekend here in Austria. I don’t like pointing fingers at anyone but to be honest, this weekend the pace in the car was not there. Set up mainly, as in the last race when we got the car better, we were pretty quick climbing from seventh to fourth. However compared to the top two, no one on this grid had a chance. Even their other teammates who are good drivers were nowhere compared to them. Interesting is how I would describe their pace and I am confident many people in the f3 paddock will agree. I did the best possible as I always endeavor to do! Thank you to the team as always for their hard work. It’s not over until it’s over and I’ll make sure I arrive at the last round in the best shape I can.

>To all people who have left negative comments on here… this is the one and only response you will get from me, so enjoy it. I’m not a sore loser. Neither am I salty. I have a huge respect for Mick who had dealt with a lot in the past few years. I am simply suggesting that it seems to have come from nowhere? I never said it was illegal. I appreciate I have lessons to learn still! I’m not denying that. You don’t know the real story because you are not at the track looking at everyone’s data. So I’m afraid I have to tell you that your opinion is invalid under these circumstances.

>I’ll say it only once more, unless you have something constructive to say, leave your useless, ill thought comments off my page as they have no evidence to ratify the truth. If you want to talk to me DM me as I can answer your questions if you may have some! Unfortunately however I am fighting a losing battle as my last name is not Schumacher.

I can't believe that I actually thought Vettel was going to win the championship this year. Now that it's effectively over, what can I do to keep myself busy until March next year? Will Leclerc be the hero Ferrari deserves?

Saying this as a Ferrari fan, I am fucking tired of them choking just when I think they're finally going to do the deed. And the worst thing is, Mercedes and Hamilton are most likely gonna win both championships for a 5th consecutive year, because Vettel is a retard that blew himself up at both Hockenheim and at Monza. The only thing I pray for is that Leclerc and new race strategists are the ones that give Ferrari any kind of consistency.

>All of MSC's records will fall

I already came to terms with that earlier in the year, once it became clear Ferrari choked yet again. I take solace in the fact that Hamilton never did, and never will, experience half the career that Schumacher did. He never drove for a lower-tier team, always finding himself in something with a Mercedes tristar on it. He never drove anything with more than 8 cylinders. He will get his 100+ wins largely from seasons with 20+ races, which is a whole extra season's worth in 5 years when compared to the classic 16-race format. He hardly ever dealt with mechanical failure. He drove in cars with pussy cages and all sorts of arcade mode electronic boost measures.

No doubt the hardcore Senna fans will be celebrating that their pet nigger "reincarnation" finally dethroned the big bad meanie nazi cheater.

>>66366

Honestly, I hate to be that guy, but this shit ought to be banned at this point. Anyone with something even resembling a brain can tell this is another way to get a Marlboro chevron onto a Ferrari, and it's the fifth time they've tried that subliminal advertising shit. First was the original bar design, which was at its most blatant in 2005. Second was that early 2010 motion blur barcode. Third was the "Scuderia Ferrari" logo. Fourth was that small cutout chevron towards the back of the car. Now this. They know what they're doing.

I get where you're coming from, but I rather see full cigarette liveries instead of "subliminal" bullshit. There is a sad fact that no company is really willing to pay to be an F1 sponsor these days, unless it's some shady company. F1 really needs money and the only ones willing to pay these days are Russians, cigarette companies, and more "legit" companies with F1 fans in charge of making decisions.

I honestly say the cigarette advertising bans for motor racing are doing more harm than good, because the cigarette companies were off setting a lot of costs and had a ton of great memorable liveries. Ironically enough, you can even say the cigarette companies helped fund technological innovations for teams with works engines contracts, resulting in engines that uses less fuel, which is helpful for the environment.

Another thing to note: With the ban, how far will (((governments))) go to ban things they don't like in the name of "morality"? They're starting to consider more restrictive alcohol advertising laws for one, which will mean even less sponsors for F1. It's slowly becoming a slippery slope.

Some news, since I can't fucking sleep. Surprise! It has to do mostly with George Russell.

<MPH: Russell is a glimmer of hope for Williams

https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/f1/mph-russell-glimmer-hope-williams

>Wind tunnell was messed up

https://www.racefans.net/2018/10/12/george-russell-handed-f1-debut-with-williams-in-2019/

>RaceFans understands Ocon was unwilling to commit to Williams for more than a single season. He could be in the frame for a promotion to Mercedes at the end of 2019 when the team’s option on Valtteri Bottas comes up for renewal.

<SoyMotor: Kubica will get the drive for 2019.

https://soymotor.com/noticias/fichajes-y-cambios-de-equipo-asi-cobra-forma-la-formula-1-de-2019-954112

<Artem Markelov's dad was arrested on corruption charges, which seemingly hurt his chances of getting the Williams drive.

https://www.racefans.net/2018/10/02/renault-test-driver-markelovs-father-arrested-in-sochi/

Cuck Saward thinks Alexander Albon will get the Toro Rosso drive, due to his Thai heritage due to Red Bull's links to Thailand.

>He is supposed to be joining Nissan in Formula E next year, but that deal is not really what it seems. The deal was a pay-off for DAMS agreeing to fund his Formula 2 season this year, after his sponsorship fell through at the last minute. To all intents and purposes Nissan’s Formula E team is DAMS, with the Japanese firm having bought Alain Prost’s and Renault’s shareholdings - but team boss Jean Paul Driot retains the majority for the moment, although the oil trader is obviously planning to sell to Nissan when the price is right. There is no shortage of good drivers who could step in for Albon at Nissan, and the money required to get him out of the deal would be peanuts for Red Bull… so I feel that a Kvyat-Albon pairing is quite likely next year at Faenza.

My own personal take on that is Liberty Media would also love the idea of a Thai driver in the series cause "multiculturalism" and being able to sell an F1 broadcasting deal in Thailand.

Cuck Saward also mentions other issues with Russian drivers or a "Russian team" in F1: International sanctions against Russia. Personally, I also believe the whole bullshit about "Russian hackers" and "DRUMPF!" is another reason why Russian drivers and sponsors are going to have trouble in F1. No team will want to be associated with them, cause other sponsors are not going to like being associated with them, especially since everything is so politically charged these days.

>The need for corporate behaviour may also be causing some problems for Williams at the moment because its Russian sponsors have difficulty moving money about because of the international sanctions that exist, following the 2014 annexation of Crimea by Russia. Sirotkin's sponsor SMP Bank is targeted by the sanctions, with its owners Arkady and Boris Rotenberg both also sanctioned, but in different countries. US companies (which Formula One now is) are not allowed to do business with those sanctioned, but as the Williams deal is between the team and the bank, it does not effect the sport. However, the idea of a Russian team, which was floated recently, would have to exclude any sanctioned individuals or companies because of the need for a commercial agreement between the team and the commercial rights holder.

>This is believed to be one of the problems facing Williams at the moment, while the news that Artem Markelov's father has been arrested by the Russians, accused of bribing Dmitry Zakharchenko, a senior officer in the Russian Interior Ministry’s Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department, before his arrest at the end of 2016. Valery Markelov is involved with a string of companies, all of which have close links with Russian Railways, a state-owned corporation which manages railway infrastructure and operates train services for both passengers and freight in Russia.

>After his arrest, Zakharchenko was found to have had $123 million in cash in properties linked to him, plus $337 million in Swiss bank accounts.

Finally, the last rumor from Cuck.

>Another quiet rumour is that Williams may be talking to Jost Capito, who is currently the managing director of Volkswagen R GmbH, the company that builds high-performance versions of VW road cars. Capito has been around motorsport since the 1980s, working with BMW and Porsche before joining Sauber in 1996 to oversee the Sauber Petronas engine programme. He later went to Ford to head the rallying programme before moving into road car activities until hired by Volkswagen in 2012 to run its hugely-successful WRC project, which won a string of titles. He joined McLaren in 2016 but survived only a few months as he was seen as a Ron Dennis appointment at a point when Dennis was being ousted from the company.

Please be true.

As the subject says, big Robert Kubica news, sicne it has to do with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Basically, old tapes of Morawiecki was leaked during his time as chairman of Bank Zachodni WBK (Santander Poland), being thankful that Robert Kubica got into his rally accident. He didn't like how Santander was in F1 as sponsor and was thankful for the accident, meaning he wouldn't have to sponsor Robert with the Santander Poland branch.

>"If the accident did not take place, BZ WBK bank probably would have to become a sponsor of the Polish driver."

https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=pl&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwiadomosci.onet.pl%2Ftylko-w-onecie%2Fafera-tasmowa-morawiecki-cieszyl-sie-ze-jego-bank-nie-bedzie-sponsorowal-kubicy%2Fhm5sj5j&edit-text=

It's an outrage at the moment and it might lead to Kubica getting more financial backing for a Williams seat. As one guy on Reddit puts it.

>"Good ol' damage control. It's one week until regional elections in Poland, so really the PM being heartless banker isn't really the topic that the government would like to be discussed over and over right now."

Now, Robert Kubica met with prime minister Morawiecki and posted it on his Instagram with "No hard feelings".

https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=pl&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fsport.onet.pl%2Fformula-1%2Frobert-kubica-bedzie-wspierany-przez-pkn-orlen%2F3vez563&edit-text=

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo90X2ylVsS/?taken-by=robertkubica_real

However, it is also mentioned that Kubica met with representatives of PKN Orlen, Poland's largest oil company. So they might be sponsoring Robert Kubica. You might be asking doesn't LOTOS already sponsor Robert? Well PKN Orlen and LOTOS have merged.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pknorlen-m-a-grupa-lotos/poland-to-merge-its-two-major-refiners-lotos-shares-up-idUSKCN1GB1DC

And PKN Orlen themselves said it was just a meeting and "no contract was signed."

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=pl&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Ff1.dziel-pasje.pl%2FF1_news-27348-Oswiadczenie_PKN_Orlen_ws._Roberta_Kubicy.html

Pretty interesting development. Someone on the forum where the Williams is getting Martini sponsorship back in 2014 said Orlen might be interested in entering F1 as a fuel supplier, so we'll see what happens here.

About Rich Energy: The rumors of Rich Energy nearly getting a deal with Williams is true, apparently this is what happened.

>"Deal was almost done. Press release was prepared, name should be changed. Williams wanted a guarantee of solvency. Then it didn't worked out. Only signature was missing. Haas will get half of it what Williams should got."

So we have Williams wanted a (presumably written) guarantee in case the money goes awry, which sounds like Rich Energy didn't want to sign on, then perhaps Haas offered title sponsorship for half the amount of money, which is $30 million for Haas sponsorship.

Unverified, but:

>From BBC's Andrew Benson:

>"In Austin last weekend, there were faint hopes that Esteban Ocon might find a race seat next year after all - Williams were keen to try to sort something out if they could.

>Problem was, to sign him, they needed to find at least €10m, which always looked a big ask.

>Those hopes faded even further this week when a little-known energy drink company with which Williams had been discussing a possible sponsorship deal instead signed up with Haas.

>This came after the drinks company’s bosses spent the weekend with Williams in Texas, where they are said to have agreed a deal, only to pull out. It is fair to say Williams are not impressed with their behaviour."

>NO FORMULA 1 ENTRY FROM PORSCHE

>"Time was just wrong"

>Different sources confirm that Porsche has finally and definitively blown off a Formula 1 entry. Without stripped-down hybrid technology and with the burden of the exhaust scandal makes a commitment in the premier class no sense.

>The F1 management has received no official cancellation from Porsche, however, the expectations were low: After the attempt failed to implement a new engine regulations with slimmed-down hybrid drive without MGU-H for 2021, the chances for a Porsche entry declined into Formula 1 against zero.

>Experts doubt whether an implementation for 2022 could still be relevant, because the FIA makes a conspicuous effort to avoid a dispute with the F1 engine suppliers Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda and Renault. The engine manufacturers were also the ones who had insisted on obtaining the MGU-H.

>They argued that otherwise they would have to develop a completely new engine. This was not feasible according to their presentation for cost reasons. The "hot electric machine" chokes off energy from the exhaust system and feeds 163 hp into the system together with the MGU-K. The MGU-K recovers energy during the braking process.

>Porsche LMP1 team disintegrates

>A VW insider reveals: "The time for an F1 entry was just wrong." Will say: The billions of euros pollution from the exhaust scandal and high investment for future drive technologies leave no room for carnival on the Grand Prix circuit.

>With the cancellation will also disintegrate the Porsche LMP1 team, which had recently aufgerezelt the 919 Hybrid and set a new record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The evaluation phase for a high-performance engine, granted by the Executive Board in July 2017, will end at the beginning of 2019. In the future, the former LMP1 management will control Porsche's GT programs and Formula E, albeit with significantly fewer employees.

Brazilian Grand Prix come and gone. Only thing notable was Ocon and Verstappen crashing when Ocon tried to overtake Verstappen to unlap himself.

Nigger Hamilton decided to thank Brazil in a Instagram post…in Spanish. Brazil obviously speaks Portugese.

And Max Verstappen calls Ocon a pussy. https://streamable.com/ysoz3

Speaking of Ocon, apparently the Ocon to Williams deal relied on Williams signing that Rich Energy deal, that Haas ended up poaching. According to Cuck, Claire cried about it, since Williams spent a lot of money trying to get the deal to work. Apparently she had no backup plan. Oh well, let's see if Haas gets "t-minus'd" or not. Then again, Ocon demanded $4 million, since he really didn't want the Williams seat and is waiting for the Mercedes seat.

Kubica might get the Williams seat, if he agrees.

Rob Smedley might return to Ferrari with Jock Clear being demoted to Leclerc's race engineer. https://www.formulapassion.it/motorsport/formula-1/ferrari-rimpasto-di-governo-e-ritorno-rob-smedley-409031.html/amp

News: There is none. Just rumors. This off season sucks.

Predictions

-Williams dies because of Claire's incompetence.

-2019 rules have no effect on the big teams, since some of them found loopholes and gains to make up for the standardized front wing. The smaller teams suffer due to lack of money for research and development.

-Current engine rules scare off manufacturers and it's just Renault, Honda, Ferrari, and Mercedes. (This is a given)

-F1 can't attract new sponsors and it's going to get worse. Most companies are too cuck and think F1 is "anti-environmentalist" and due to the cost to sponsor an F1 team with little return, thanks to a shrinking fan base and weird TV contracts where it is only available on pay TV, like Sky or special services like broadcast satellite systems in Japan.

-The (((Strolls))) eventually fuck up Racing Point/the former Jordan/Midland/Spyker/Force India somehow.

Goddamnit, these cars would look fucking awesome without the ugly, intrusive pussy cages on them. 2017 was the first year since 2004 that F1 was truly at the forefront of motorsport in terms of technology and performance, and it was the only year we'd see the current crop of cars without the pussy cage. I hope when this season's 10 - 15 years in the past and these cars invariably end up in private hands, the first thing their new owners will do is throw the halos in the trash and drive unobstructed.

Red Bull's livery was long overdue for a change. It's been more than half a decade since they were on top, as hard as that is to think. Time to put the Vettel era in the past and move on. Turns out there is such a thing as being too consistent, and the metallic purple did nothing to help rejuvenate the long-stale livery that they'd used since 2008 or so.

Williams… the writing's on the wall. Livery looks like it was designed by a 5 year old in Paint. Main sponsor decal looks straight out of 1992. They're going the way of Brabham, but at a painfully slow speed. They haven't had a win since 2012 which was a fluke, and apart from 2014, have not had a championship-contending car since 2003.

And HAAS going for that JPS Lotus look I see. Not like Renault already did that at the beginning of this decade.

News from Andrew Benson from BBC, and some Reddit poster in those pics…Oh and to make it worse.

https://www.pitpass.com/63915/Williams-unlikely-to-run-until-Wednesday

>"It is looking more likely than not that we will now not be in a position to run on track until Wednesday at the earliest," said team boss, Claire Williams in a brief statement.

>"This is obviously extremely disappointing, but it is unfortunately the situation we are in. We will be getting the FW42 on track as soon as we are able."

Claire and Paddy are killing the team. Sounds like they need a real leader there. You got decent facilities, but no leadership and incompetent staff. Should have given Pat Symonds a chance to fix all of this shit instead of letting Paddy join. And I think Paddy joined cause of Lawrence Stroll's insistence.

Wops say: FIA thinks Williams's mirrors and front suspension may be illegal.

https://www.pitpass.com/64023/Lowe-parting-company-with-Williams

>Lowe parting company with Williams?

>In the days before pre-season testing began, when it became clear that the FW42 would not be ready in time, the team having cancelled a planned shake down, the were reports that Lowe was on borrowed time.

>Tonight the Daily Mail reports that according to its sources Lowe has now left the team, though this has not been officially confirmed. Other media outlets claim that the Briton has taken a "leave of absence".

>Only last week Lowe insisted that he had no fears about his future, telling reporters in Spain when asked about the speculation: "I haven't paid attention to those sort of subjects in the media. I'm working very hard, there's an awful lot to do," he added. "We're working well as a team and at all levels in the company. I haven't got any concerns on that side."

>Insisting that it would be wrong to "conclude anything so simple as to blame a person in what is an incredibly complicated set of circumstances and requirements", he continued: "What I've observed over many years in Formula 1 is there's quite often the habit of changing the people when things don't work. What I've also observed is stronger teams are the ones who do exactly not that.

>"Every difficulty, problem in a team is an opportunity to learn," he added. "Not only not to repeat it, but to be even stronger next time. What you shouldn't do is get rid of people because you've thrown away that experience and that knowledge."

>However, when the FW42 hit the track, it was soon clear that there remains much work to do, other than being off the pace, a lack of spare parts meant that the final afternoon was spent practicing starts and pit stops, Robert Kubica finding it hard to hide his frustration.

>Coming off the back of the Grove outfit's worst season in living memory, 2019 had to witness a major step forward for Williams, and on the evidence thus far this isn't going to happen.

>Lowe, who began his F1 career with Williams in 1987, joined McLaren in 1993, progressing to the role of technical director in 2011 before replacing Ross Brawn at Mercedes in 2013. In 2017 he returned to Grove.

Who dares take over Williams? Each department is a mess. From aerodynamics (and maybe the wind tunnel itself is still a mess? They had problems with it since 2005, when it first opened), to design, to engineering. Who is willing to take over each department there? What about management and Claire?

Peter Windsor talking about where he thinks Williams went wrong. He mentions Adam Parr and Toto Wolff and the board. He takes shots at Claire, and said Jonathan Williams should have taken over, since he was taking "apprenticeship" in GP2 and such…It's a good read.

>So when Paul Jackson tired of GP2 team politics four years ago, and iSport disbanded, it seemed as if the perfect time for a Williams re-shuffle was upon us.

>Yet, inexplicably - and powered, it must be said, in part by Adam Parr and Toto Wolff - Jonny [Jonathan Williams] was sidelined by the Williams board when succession was mooted. Instead, it was Jonny’s younger sister who was empowered to sign the cheques. The potential of Paul Jackson’s logic was replaced by an industry man, a CEO or a COO - who cares? - on a fat salary. What could have been the racing pragmatism of Gav and Richard was supplanted by below-par drivers, then paying drivers - and then by the fathers of paying drivers.

Ferrari clown show continues. Leclerc fails to get out of Q1, due to a strategy error from Ferrari.

So why exactly is everyone so ecstatic about this sport? All my university mates gush about it and talk about specs or racers but to me it looks extremely boring. Two digits of laps with barely anything happening, occasional deadly injuries that are horrific to watch and 90% of the game is trying to work under heavy self imposed limitations instead of pushing the limits of what can be achieved, and all done for some petty yet huge corporate sponsorships.

One or two races in a season are worth watching. It's just that we hope that this is the one every weekend.

Do you guys not think that at least Bottas might have a chance of winning the WDC? He generally had good qualifying sessions but always seems to choke on the race starts. I really hope he pulls out his inner Rosberg and takes the fight to Hamilton. That is the last hope of this season being entertaining.

It goes to show the shitty state of F1 but, if you focus on the midfield and entirely ignore ferrari and mercedes, it's not too terribly boring to watch. Except on circuits like Paul Ricard, which is absolutely atrocious. We might get an interesting race at Monza (Ferraris last hope for a P1, I think) and Mexico. The Mexican GP used to be Redbull territory, though Mercedes have shown this season to have an aero package and chassis that can challenge Redbull, so who knows anymore. How depressing.

lol. Is he shitting on Ricciardo? Does he have something against him?

At least Hamilton didn't win. Still it annoys me to see the frogs smug face instead of Hamilton's smug face. I'm so dissapointed with Bottas and Ferrari. What the fuck are they doing? Also what happened to Renault?

It's the British geepee at Silverstone.

What are your predictions? Will Lewis Hamilton become the most winningest driver of the brit gp in history?

Will Mercedes finally not have a good race this weekend? lol no

Will Ferrari not fuck up their strategy? Sarà per la prossima volta

Will Vettee not choke? Nein

Will Valtteri stop being a Bitchass? ei

Will I successfully make a post one day without fucking up the formatting?

Welp. Valtteri out qualified Hamilton by 0.006 seconds. A time difference so small, I cannot honestly believe it's attributable to either drivers skill. But then what the fuck do I know.

I predict Hamilton will overtake Bitchass at the first corner and then proceed to GET IN THERE. Although in 3 out the 5 last British GPs the pole position sitter proceeded to win the race.

I suspect Vettel has given up on this season. He seems mentally defeated. He's also said that he's considering retirement if the 2021 regulations don't make a significant change.

In other news. For the first time this season (I believe), Giovinazzi out qualified Raikkonen. Good for him. He needs to start being competitive with Kimi otherwise I think he'll be sacked.

It seemed during the FPs that Gassly had begun being competitive. Frogman still beat him by three tenths though. Sucks for him.

Williams continue to suck. Russell continues to beat Kubica. I wonder if Russell regrets joining Williams. Is it better to join the worst F1 team (by a lot, mind you) or continue to be competitive in other series and get some results to pad out your resmue?

It still works for me. Even though I'm using an older version. Sometimes it's a bit slow if the event is still live. You just have to be a bit stubborn.

>>66502 (You)

I was wrong in saying this was the first time Gio out qualified kimi. He's out qualified him 4 times now.

Anyways. Contrary to my prediction Lewis did not overtake Bottas on the first turn and then proceed to coast the rest of the race. Instead, Giovinazzi fucked up, beached his car in the gravel and the stewards inexplicably called for a full safety car. This fucked Bottas' race up. So in the end Lewis still GOT IN THERE. Lewis is now the most successful driver in the history of the British GP.

Sebastian Vettel seemingly doesn't give a fuck anymore. He pulled a Ricciardo on the rear of Verstappen.

All in all, it was an entertaining race. It's really frustrating that Bottas lost the race to no fault of his own.

Gios fuck up seemed really suspicious and really convenient for Lewis tbh
