Ferrari loyalty at the worst time, but I remember in a F1 Racing magazine interview, he hated the fact he signed the Williams contract, and Williams didn't want to announce him yet. He called it a sign of disrespect.

Why did Ferrari have so much trouble in the early 90's? Their v12's were monstrously powerful…

A lot of in team fighting and politics. Technical team had issues too, John Barnard was able to setup a technical team in England. The V12 wasn't good for aerodynamics and weight either.

Team structure was a huge issue too. Michael Schumacher used his team status and politics to bring in Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne. They really fixed the team structure.

One example was Ferrari didn't have a seperate gearbox department and Ross put that in.

just a fun fact to add, ferrari was using a thin wall iron v12 until like 1993. iron, not aluminum. dont think it helped things.

That was when Ferrari hired a lot of the ex-Honda engineers, most notably Osamu Goto, to work on their engines.

>Again jokingly, “Ferrari lured most of our F1 Engineers to design engines for their F1 and road cars - After our (Honda) withdraw from F1 in 1992. Mr. Goto (Head of Honda V10 and V12 F1 Engine Program between 1988 to 1992) used to often called me from the Ferrari factory (where he was working) and telling me they really should slap a big H on the Ferrari's Engine Block and Ferrari F1 cars were powered by Honda.”
