Ferrari outspent everyone and had the best talent in every beyond driving itself. Beyond that, he was a genuinely excellent driver in a field that was quite mediocre.

Not to mention that FIA got often nicknamed as Ferrari International Assistance since they helped ban quite a few parts that gave others an edge against them.

read the ross brawn + adam parr strategy book that just came out, they pretty much lay out how ferrari did it. >>62677 is right on the key ingredients, but ferrari also had a very harmonious/involved team. look at toyota for what happens when you burn money to power your car and don't bother with politics.
