to be honest, banning active driver aids is a well received change, but it was done after the teams had designed cars around inherent instability (big deal in aero) and late enough to make the cars dangerous in an undeserved way.

also every other change was a mistake.

this is by no means exhaustive but it should give an idea of how terrible incrementalism is.

For 2017 we are going back to the 2m wide cars and better wing but they are not keeping the 1.8m wide front wing, I personally prefer the front wing be no wider than the inside track of the front tires, like in pic related.

It's not truly ruined, unlike the yearly South American rally that happens every January and nobody has given a shit about since Red Bull monopolized the whole competition with KAMAZ/Volkswagen I refuse to call it the Dakar because it fucking isn't. The Dakar rally died in 2007 and will probably never be revived. The terror problems have only gotten worse since.
