Charles Jennings, who wrote a pretty good book "Burning Rubber", makes the case that Senna simply screwed up and killed himself. That Senna was anxious about his age, his legacy being perceived inferior to Prost's with the latter's 1993 championship and that Senna felt like 1994 or not much later was his last chance to secure his supremacy, and that Michael Schumacher, the young up and coming buck was threatening to dethrone the old man. Plus Schumacher had won a race already, I think Brazil, and Senna crashed out the race before his San Marino. Jennings says Senna was simply desperate to get ahead of Schumacher, too desperate and took the turn too fast in a car he knew he didn't like.

Don't forget NASCAR wrapped its balls around a tree for a good 5 years until they realized no-one fucking liked the CoT and reverted to 1991-era specs with the Gen6. I still hope F1 can become a true open wheeled sport once more, hopefully after a freak accident with the halo.

It's not truly ruined, unlike the yearly South American rally that happens every January and nobody has given a shit about since Red Bull monopolized the whole competition with KAMAZ/Volkswagen I refuse to call it the Dakar because it fucking isn't. The Dakar rally died in 2007 and will probably never be revived. The terror problems have only gotten worse since.
