Currently making an F-List for the first time, along with my first post here, having silently observed here on-and-off for the past while. Anybody got any tips on how to write a good character bio? I've been reading over the first parts and it comes off as disgustingly edgy and godmoddish. Meanwhile, the start of the proper character development involving the character's dead spouse and kids just doesn't seem to read well to me, no matter how I try to phrase it. I've spent a solid day-and-a-half of effort on the bio, and it's driving me crazy because there's characters I've seen here that I want to roleplay with using the Post-edge, more mature version of the character, who is a Mostly dom, fem-lean blue demon. Anyone want to assist in salvaging this trainwreck alongside my sanity?

Ow the edge. Jokes aside, it may be better just posting it since I can't really tell how much of a trainwreck it is. What I suggest to address the edginess of the character is to add some levity to it. Poke fun of it in the kinks or add some rather cutesy art and do not use a typical emo name like "shadowborn" or something as angsty as that since you'll come off as some kind of underage. As you can see, the name is super edgy, as is the backstory up to now, but I think I've partially done what you suggested in terms of cute art and a little bit of parodying in the kinks, but if you see anything too cringe-filled, by all means point it out! I have a rather thin skin about changing my OCs lots, so just waltz on over and suggest little, helpful tweaks! In the meantime, I'm going to focus on recovering the rest of the appropriately cutesy art drawn for me.

And yes, while most of the post's content will be dependent upon the situation my partners post settles, there are some things I like to write in parallel if I can, like for instance: I know how my character orgasms, so I could write up a short excerpt about it while I wait; not the whole thing, of course, but some parts.
I specifically like to do this with feelings. I'm a very "feeling driven" writer, if that's a thing, and I like to write about how my character feels, which is something that can be done partially as my partner is typing.
Another example of this parallel typing can be if you know the story is taking you some place you need to describe, or if you're leading the narrative a lot, and things happen as you will them to. I think it's a cool tool people who can write slower have; not only does it make typefucking us bearable, but it also removes those dead moments of waiting for your partner. It can be exhausting, though, to be thinking non-stop about the scene like that.

Start with a single character, one you're going to enjoy playing. They don't have to be incredibly complex but a little bit of backstory helps give potential partners something to run with when they approach you. Profiles that are just a name and a list of kinks don't tend to get a lot of play. Maybe look for a bit at what partners you would be interested in are looking for and make one to match their preferences.
You don't need to have every kink sorted and can use custom kinks to put whole groups into one category (for example, custom no vore instead of sorting each individual variation of vore into the no column).
Remember to fill out your language preference, your furry preference, your desired RP method, your species, and your sub/dom role. People usually include those when searching, if it's not filled out you don't show up.
Add characters as inspired.

I don't personally RP in chat. I use notes because I can never be sure when I'll be online or how long I'll be online. I have occasionally used chat to meet people interested in the same kinks and arrange play by note.
In my experience there's not a lot of value in public chat. Public chat is either people spamming ads (sometimes you'll see a good one to reply to but often they're really bad) and people just engaging in casual banter or shit tier RP. Good chat is likely to be in PM.

Hello, I'm fairly new at ERP, but now that I've had a taste I'm addicted. While I say I'm new, I need to clarify that I've been ERPing for years. I just don't have much experience (maybe 10 encounters). My experience has been on Moonguard in WoW, where I met a certain person that showed me heaven. Fast forward a few years, I've had a handful of encounters, but now WoW moonguard is dead and no one to ERP with. Nothing quite does it for me like ERPing and I'm afraid that given enough time I might go insane due to lack of ERP. So, my question is, is there someplace I can go to interact with more ERP'ers? I'd prefer games for the fantasy setting, but ultimately I'm open to wherever. I'd also like to learn the art of ERP and just become solid at it all around. Would anyone be able to at least point me in the right direction?

I've found that the Age Play and Underage Characters kinks seem to confuse some people on the site. To the point where I can never tell if they're actually going to be interested in my characters or not. For example, Underage Characters is literally defined as "Often characters under the age of 15 but definitely under 18." Far too often someone with that in yes or even favorite tells me my 13 year old characters and my character who's profile says I will play her as old as 14 are too young. Any older isn't under 15.
My advice is that if you have these kinks as yes or favorite you should also have a custom kink telling people the age range you're interested in to avoid confusion like this.
