It's by no means easy to answer.
The path to understanding the true meaning of cute is embarking on a journey toward inner tranquility.

I'd say cuteness is an exclusively female trait, and what makes female more female than femininity? The epitome of femininity is in beauty, charm, and small frail features (mouth, nose, body, breasts, etc). So small girls are the most cute.

Cuteness is not something that can be understood intellectually. Cuteness is something that can only be understood emotionally, viscerally. You know cuteness when you see it. You don't have to think about if something is cute. It's just something you intuitively understand.

I think that cute is an attraction to something that isn't necessarily pretty or beautiful. You would think a puppy is cute, but probably doesn't give you a hard. Cuteness also has a sense of innocence to it, so would probably trust a cute thing over a non-cute thing. There is no way to measure cuteness, as it is purely subjective, but some traits are more commonly found cute than others. I guess that's my take on it, if it makes any sense whatsoever.
