100-PAGE GIANT COMICS FROM DC TO BE SOLD EXCLUSIVELY AT WALMART STORES THIS SUMMER (MUCH TO THE DISMAY OF SEVERAL DIAMOND CUCKS)
>Available July 1, Monthly Anthology Titles Combine All-New Stories by Top DC Writers with Classic Tales from DC’s Deep History
>Original Stories Featuring Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Dan Jurgens and Tim Seeley
>12-Part Superman Story by Tom King and 12-Part Batman Story by Brian Michael Bendis to Follow in September
>This summer, Walmart shoppers will receive a personal invitation to discover the lore behind their favorite DC experiences as DC Entertainment announced today that a series of “giant” monthly comics will be sold exclusively in more than 3,000 participating Walmart stores around the country.
>Available for $4.99, each 100-page anthology features all-new stories written exclusively for these books by some of DC’s top creative talents, including Tom King (BATMAN, MISTER MIRACLE, HEROES IN CRISIS), Dan Jurgens (ACTION COMICS, BATMAN BEYOND), Brian Michael Bendis (SUPERMAN, ACTION COMICS, THE MAN OF STEEL), Andy Kubert (NEW CHALLENGERS) and others. Each title will also include additional story arcs drawn from fan-favorite DC eras such as the New 52, Rebirth and the New Age of DC Heroes.
Each of the four titles – SUPERMAN GIANT, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA GIANT, BATMAN GIANT and TEEN TITANS GIANT – will arrive in stores by July 1. Beginning in August, the Superman and Justice League of America titles will arrive in week one of each month, with the second pair, Batman and Teen Titans, arriving approximately two weeks later.
>“We are extraordinarily excited about working with Walmart to expand the reach of our books,” said DC Publisher Dan DiDio. “These new monthly books combine new and accessible stories with reprints of classic comic series. It’s a great way for new readers to get into comics and follow the characters they’ve grown to love in TV and film.”

SUPERMAN GIANT #1
SUPERMAN GIANT #1 features chapter one of the two-part “Endurance,” an original story written by Jimmy Palmiotti (HARLEY QUINN, ACTION COMICS) with art by Tom Derenick (HARLEY QUINN, CYBORG, BATMAN/SUPERMAN). The Daily Planet sends Clark Kent to Tornado Alley to do a story on the area, but when the storm hits, it turns out that this mild-mannered reporter is more helpful as Superman.
The issue also includes:
>THE TERRIFICS #1 (2018)
>GREEN LANTERN #1 (2005)
>SUPERMAN/BATMAN #1 (2003)
September’s SUPERMAN GIANT #3 features Eisner Award-winning writer Tom King’s first return to the Man of Steel since his poignant and heartfelt tribute story, “For Tomorrow,” in the pages of ACTION COMICS #1000. Together with DC Master Class artist Andy Kubert, this powerhouse team will take readers on a new 12-part adventure titled “Up in the Sky!” When a little girl is kidnapped and taken from Earth, Superman embarks on a galaxy-spanning mission to find the perpetrators…but has to decide what lengths he will go to in order to save one life! Teaming up with the Fearsome Five and working as an agent of H.I.V.E., he had one mission: kill the Teen Titans! The battle spills onto the streets of San Francisco, putting its citizens at risk, while H.I.V.E. uses this distraction to begin their plan for world conquest!
Additional issue #1 stories include:
>SUPER SONS #1 (2017)
>SIDEWAYS #1 (2018)
>TEEN TITANS #1 (2003)

Batman is the world’s greatest detective, but what happens when the trail in his newest case leads him back to a place from his past that he never expected to revisit?
BATMAN GIANT #1 also includes:
>BATMAN #608 (2002)
>NIGHTWING #1 (2011)
>HARLEY QUINN #1 (2011)
Beginning with BATMAN GIANT #3 in September, superstar writer Brian Michael Bendis makes his DC debut on the Dark Knight with a 12-part story, “Universe,” with art by Nick Derington. Batman’s run-in with the Riddler leads the Caped Crusader into a mystery that spans the globe!

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA GIANT #1
Justice League member Wonder Woman is spotlighted in “The Conversion,” an all-new story from NIGHTWING writer Tim Seeley and artists Rick Leonardi and Steve Buccellato. In this single-issue story, Wonder Woman comes face to face with Ares, god of war—who sees her as a promising new recruit!
JUSTICE LEAGUE GIANT #1 also includes:
>JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 (2011)
>THE FLASH #1 (2011)
>AQUAMAN #1 (2011)
In issue #2, Seeley teams up with artists Felipe Watanabe and Chris Sotomayor on “Mother’s Day,” a stand-alone story where Wonder Woman returns to Paradise Island for the first time since her exile, only to find that the Amazons – and Queen Hippolyta – have been abducted by Echidna, the mythological Mother of Monsters, with a brood of unstoppable beasts as children!
Issue #3 begins another original 12-part Wonder Woman story by HARLEY QUINN co-writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti called “Come Back to Me.” When Steve Trevor’s plane crashes on an island outside of time itself, it’s up to Wonder Woman to rescue him from this mysterious land, full of monsters, dinosaurs and some very surprising citizens.
>Use Walmart.com’s online store finder to locate the store in your area that has DC’s GIANT 100-Page comic books.
The new stories will be 12 pages each, and they will be collected for LCS and bookstores in the near future, according to Jimmy Palmiotti. No word yet on when will they release in digital form, nor when the giants will be available outside of the United States.
The last time DC and Walmart joined forces was the 126-page, all-reprint, ten-dollar Showcase Magazine which quietly launched in a few random Walmart stores last year.

>$4.99US for 100 pages
Pretty good idea, and it's straight from print to Walmart, so 100% of the money goes to DC instead of Diamond.
Not sure about them reprinting mainly Nu52 stories and a couple of Rebirth titles. Would have been a better idea to get 80s/90s titles to really hook kids into them instead of their average/shit titles.
>each new story is 12 pages long
I hope that means each part of a story is 12 pages long, because a 2-part story implies something bigger than 12 pages.
>bendis on superman
REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
<riddler actually doing riddles
Maybe it won't be complete shit.
The only thing I can see Bendis adding to Batman is he prefers story over action, so Batman might actually do some detective work instead of just blindly punching people with gadgets.

This is the smartest thing they've done in decades. Comics desperately needs a replacement for the newsstand.
>>1004694
> cheap
That's the point. The golden age of comics was when a little kid could buy a book with pocket change and have money left over for soda pop. That gave the mass market penetration which made it socially acceptable for normal people to buy and read comics. It also generated a solid revenue stream which they could plow into more ambitious projects.
By way of analogy, look at early HBO. They aired a lot of absolutely garbage tier softcore porn late at night. But that crap was cheap to make and got lots of eyeballs and therefore money. They were then able to turn around and use that money to make the riskier and higher quality stuff which made them famous.
That said, I seriously doubt DC can pull it off. The market environment is very different and even if this effort succeeds they'll probably do what Marvel does with their Cinematic Universe money and use it to keep crap nobody wants to read on life support.

>Bendis writing Batman vs Riddler comic out of all things
>12 part story
God dammit. What is he gonna taint next? I hope that writing six comics at once takes a toll on Bendis and will force him to retreat back to his Jinxshit and Superman corner. With some luck, Bendis' ripoff of Tebori, but set in San Francisco, won't make it to print either.
>superstar writer Brian Michael Bendis
If news are to be believed, Bendis' Superman books sold less than DC anticipated. They are no longer returnable, and DC is going to rely on variant covers to boost sales.
>>1004683
>Conner and Palimotti on Wonder Woman
That might be interesting. At worst, at least there will be some cheesecake, since Conner like to put it comics she is involved in.
>The last time DC and Walmart joined forces was the 126-page, all-reprint, ten-dollar Showcase Magazine which quietly launched in a few random Walmart stores last year.
Looks like that was a trial run. It was probably successful enough for DC to actually commit to selling comics outside of comic book stores. Who wold have thought that all these people saying that comics are too expensive and have too limited availability might have had a point.
>>1004684
>Maybe it won't be complete shit.
If it was ten years ago, I would have given Bendis benefit of the doubt, but everything he wrote since then was shit. Moon Knight sounded like something right up Bendis' alley, but he produced the worst Moon Knight run in the history of the character. Considering similarities between Batman and Moon Knight, Bendis' Bat is likely to bed up being shit. Especially since Batman is less of a street level character than Moon Knight.

It's about getting parents, or grandparents to throw it in for their kids. Or the teenager picking up a video game. At a price point that is acceptable. And is weirdly a paid ad for their trades, or floppies. The giant Batman book is for the kid that loves Batman, watched the cartoons, but may never read a comic. Now they might go searching for those Nightwing books if he likes Dick. Same thing for Terrifics/Green Lantern in the Superman giant. Plus, they have an inbuilt way to pump out more with minimal production costs.

Yeah, they could pick better stories. Flash Year One would be a fantastic pick for this, being about a young Wally West. It's a few pages short of a 100 pages (only 92 pages total if you include the covers), but there's plenty of options to fill that.

Sadly, it's not easily available and big two do not like to share that data for some reason. Diamond numbers, bookscan, and 'insider scoops' from Bleeding Cool and icv2 are the best we've got. I don't see the big deal here. It's a pretty blatant sales stunt on DC's part, considering that their ongoings aren't even on newsstands anymore. I know that DC has had a main, consistent look to its books. And that they are more likely to give artists leeway on less mainstream titles, or only after they have put in the ground work rising up at the company. But I honestly wished more mainstream comics had a consistent, perfectly functional quality to the art, colours, lines, backgrounds, etc.
As well, about the 100-page comic being "churned out", each of the giant books has three reprints, that you can pirate purchase for cheap borrow from a library to see just what the quality of the work is. It took no time to grab the first couple of pages from Batman 608.
The quality of the books. The moving away from LCS, both with this, and their streaming service to see what sticks. A lot can be called soulless. It just is tough for me to agree that all the reprints featured are soulless.

It's not clear what some of the clothing on the clotheslines is supposed to be during the Chinatown sequence, but a that's a very minor art quibble.
The Superman story is more about Clark, but that's fine. Wonder if the next issue will have Clark explain where he was when he was Superman in a way that doesn't make him look like an asshole.
Justice League mini is a decent Wonder Woman story. Art continuity on where everything is sucks. The most obvious (and what drew me out of the story enough to notice) is the tank's position and features (for example on page 4 vs. page 6 front is totally different, the turret faces a different way in page 4, 5 and 6), but then you notice how the area they're fighting in isn't consistent at all in geometry. The statue's back right in 5 has a different building design from the very next page has a big building behind it (and I just noticed the turret actually changed orientation THREE times). This wouldn't be so bad if the story wasn't all in a single battle map
Also a bit weird for her to address Steve Trevor as "Steve Trevor" is a bit weird, especially as he's already been introduced and they're close. Story itself is fine, I like that for once in modern fiction the women in burqas seem to be abused women from a middle eastern shithole trying to escape instead of so progressive cosplay muslims. Ares is Wonder Woman's best pick for a serious bad guy and he's introduced well here. Interesting that they're bringing Echidna back, she was last seen in 1992.
The Disruptor's costume is pretty bad in the Titans mini. Without the yellow lines he looks like the Flash when you don't see his chest. Story is fine though.

Two new DC-Walmart Holiday Specials and two new Giant titles announced
>With each edition of DC Giants comic books in Walmart stores selling out faster than a speeding bullet, the publisher already has plans to expand the exclusive line.
>Created for Walmart Inc., the 100-page anthologies that debuted in July in 3,000 stores combine original stories with reprinted classics. Each book, which sells for $4.99, features one of four perennial favorite superheroes. Superman Giant and the Justice League of America Giant appear in the first week of each month. The second pair of titles, Batman Giant and Teen Titan Giant, are released two weeks later.
>DC Comics publisher Dan DiDio said his company, a subsidiary of DC Entertainment, hopes to eventually get the books in all of Walmart's nearly 5,000 U.S. stores. But all four titles have sold so well in the first two months that DC will publish two special editions and add two more titles early next year.
>Swamp Thing Halloween Horror Special, at 100 pages, will ship on Oct. 4 and should be in stores by Oct. 7. An 80-page Walmart DC holiday special edition ships Nov. 8, and should be available in stores by Nov. 11. Each will sell for $4.99.
(The former may include a story by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.)
>Then in February, the Flash will join the superhero lineup of regular titles, as well as another character yet to be determined.
>"I'm really excited about the program," DiDio said in a recent phone interview from DC's Burbank, Calif., headquarters. Walmart stores are in many communities that don't have a specialty comic book shop, he said, "so it's a great way to get our books into people's hands."

Swamp Thing is obviously a seasonal choice but he's an indication this is actually a quite successful venture instead of just mildly so. The safe option would be to find some scary Batman stories that aren't gorefests (not too hard to find), but DC went to including a character most haven't heard of.

Comics used to be sold in corner stores. Then in a forgotten time, comics became collectables, and spawned dedicated comic stores. Go into your local comic store, see if they have branched out into board games, card games, video games, table top miniatures/rpgs, or straight up clothing, or food.
Dedicated stores for print media is a money sink. Even stores like Barns and Noble have been facing tough times, when Amazon has been able to effectively piggy back on subsidized national mail services.
Plus, there is at least one new story in each of these collections. Coupled with the streaming service, for digital comics, movies, shows, and the shakeup at DC Entertainment as a whole, this is one experiment that overall has been doing well (or at least, that's what the spin is). Still love that months ago when I argued that comics needed to be in grocery stores so that parents, and grandparents would grab them for kids, I was told explicitly I didn't know what I was talking about.

2000AD is actually pretty much only in WH Smith (admittedly there's at least one in every town, and major cities have several) and comic shops. Back in the 90's, though, it was absolutely everywhere. We used to get it from Tesco (I even imagined they would have a special banner up, celebrating the release of prog 1000, more fool me).
Also didn't American comics USED to do this? You could get Spider-Man in 7-11 with your loaf of bread?

Sam Young, nee Max Autohead, the guy behind Issue One Comics, actually managed to swing a deal back in the 90's where every Video Ezy in Australia would have had a rack of Issue One comics (back when they had a bunch of titles, and back when video stores were a thing). This was an unprecedented exposure for a publisher, but Sam is a compulsive liar, and pathologically incapable of holding his end of a deal up, even if it costs him a fortune. It's a pity, he really was our very best in terms of wheeling and dealing and hype and the art of the deal, but he just had to fuck everyone, even if it only hurt him and him alone. I think eventually his entire staff walked out on him because he had never actually paid them, like, ever, and the one brilliant Japanese artist he had, the one who was his dancing monkey at conventions with people just clustering around his artwork going OOH and AHH, he finally snapped and burned the place down to the ground.

SWAMP THING HALLOWEEN SPECIAL — OUT NOW!
Includes an original story written by Brian Azzarello and drawn by Greg Capullo
>This 100-Page Giant sells for $4.99 and includes several classic fright-filled stories from DC’s history, led by the iconic HOUSE OF SECRETS #92 from 1971, which features Swamp Thing’s very first appearance, written and drawn by co-creators Len Wein (writer) and Bernie Wrightson (artist). 1971’s “Night of the Reaper,” from BATMAN #237, features two more giants of superhero storytelling, writer Denny O’Neil and artist Neal Adams, telling a Halloween tale of revenge and the search for a National Socialist war criminal.
>2007’s DC INFINITE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL also contributes to this issue, with stories featuring DC heroes Superman (“Strange Cargo”), Blue Devil and Enchantress (“The Pumpkin Sinister”) and Zatanna (“Kcirt ro Taert”). The book also reprints a Batman tale from the 2008 DC INFINITE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL, “The Ballad of Jonathan Crane,” as well as “Night Gods” from 2010’s THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD, starring Aquaman and the Demon.

The World’s Greatest Super-Heroes! Holiday Special, a Walmart exclusive, OUT THIS WEEKEND!
>With the holidays rapidly approaching, DC and Walmart are adding to their lineup of 100-page “Giant” comics with a new one-shot to ring in the holiday season! Following the success of their horror-themed SWAMP THING HALLOWEEN HORROR SPECIAL, DC’s WORLD’S GREATEST SUPER-HEROES! HOLIDAY SPECIAL is headed to participating Walmart stores in the U.S. today and should reach stores by Sunday.
>The fan-favorite creative trio of THE FLASH—Scott Lobdell (writer), Brett Booth (artist) and Norm Rapmund (inker) [with Hi-Fi Color instead of that nigger eyesore color artist as the colorist]—have reunited for an original tale featuring the Scarlet Speedster, “Twas the Riot Before Christmas.” Barry Allen’s holiday tradition of giving gifts to the kids at the Central City Home for Wayward Children gets interrupted by a riot at Iron Heights penitentiary featuring some of the Flash’s deadliest foes. In restoring order, he receives help from an unexpected source, but will it be in time to spend Christmas with the kids at the home?
>This Walmart exclusive also reprints a host of holiday-themed stories from throughout DC’s history: Tom King and David Finch’s “Good Boy,” from the 2016 BATMAN ANNUAL tells the painful (certainly for the Dark Knight) story of how Batman and Alfred brought Ace the Bat-Hound into the family.
>Originally featured in the 2014 HARLEY QUINN HOLIDAY SPECIAL #1, “K!llin’ Time,” written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Darwyn Cooke, shows how Harley Quinn decides to deal with aging and finding her first gray hair—by killing Father Time!
>Written by Joe Kelly with art by Ale Garza, “All I Want for Christmas” from the 2006 DC INFINITE HOLIDAY SPECIAL spotlights Supergirl in a tale of making a little girl’s Christmas wish come true by reuniting her with her father after the Maid of Might shows him the importance of not being an absentee parent and gives him a second chance to be a father to his child.
>The anthology also features two stories from the 2016 DC REBIRTH HOLIDAY SPECIAL. In “A Light in the Dark,” Kate Perkins (writer) and Paolo Pantalena (artist) featured Batwoman in a holiday rescue story involving pie and the story of Hanukkah, while Green Lanterns Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz are subjected to a series of trials by a mysterious alien race where the prize is not just the fate of the world, but something that Earth will always need: Hope. “The Epiphany” was co-written by Steve Orlando and Vita Ayala, with art by V. Ken Marion.
>1992’s SUPERMAN #22 rounds out the lineup with the story “Metropolis Mailbag,” written by Dan Jurgens with art by Jackson “Butch” Guice. As the holidays approach, the Man of Steel finds out that even he has limits when he reads some letters that are addressed to him in the Daily Planet’s “Superman room.”
>The WORLD’S GREATEST SUPER-HEROES! HOLIDAY SPECIAL sells for $4.99 and arrives in participating Walmart stores throughout North America by Sunday, November 11. To find your nearest Walmart location, check out the store finder page at www.walmart.com.
Meanwhile, the regular Giants are getting later and later.

Line Expands to Six Titles with SWAMP THING, THE FLASH
TEEN TITANS and JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA Continue as TITANS #1 and WONDER WOMAN #1
All Titles in Participating U.S. Walmart Retailers by February 17, 2019
>BURBANK, CA and BENTONVILLE, AR – (January 17, 2019) – DC announced today that it is bolstering its successful relationship with Walmart by introducing new titles, increasing the publisher’s slate of 100-Page Giant comics from four to six. In addition, two titles from the original lineup will be re-titled and renumbered as #1 issues. All titles, including the SUPERMAN 100-Page Giant featuring Tom King with Andy Kubert and the BATMAN 100-Page Giant featuring Brian Michael Bendis and Nick Derington, will arrive in participating U.S. Walmart retail stores by Sunday, February 17.
>Additions to the lineup include the SWAMP THING 100-Page Giant #1 and THE FLASH 100-Page Giant #1. As with the other Walmart titles, each book will retail at $4.99 and combine new original stories with “flashback” content from popular DC story eras such as DC Rebirth, the New Age of Heroes and the New 52. “DC has been incredibly successful in attracting new readers through its relationship with Walmart,” said Nancy Spears, VP, Mass Book, Digital Sales and Trade Marketing. “These two titles are the perfect extensions to the Walmart line, given the successful Flash TV show and the popularity of last October’s SWAMP THING HALLOWEEN HORROR Special.”
>The debut issue of the SWAMP THING 100-Page Giant includes an original story, “Desert of Ash,” written by Tim Seeley (NIGHTWING, GREEN LANTERNS), with art by Mike Perkins (GREEN LANTERNS, THE CURSE OF BRIMSTONE ANNUAL). This 12-page tale features Swamp Thing and his witch companion Briar as they face the pyromaniac Char Man, who possesses the ability to control flames, a power granted by the elemental spirits of fire itself. Issues #2 and #3 feature “Bog of Blood,” a two-parter by Seeley with art by Joëlle Jones (CATWOMAN), which introduces a terrifying and potentially supernatural slasher stalking the swamps of Louisiana.
>This 100-page spectacular also includes fan-favorite stories from DC’s New 52 period, including Jeff Lemire, Travel Foreman and Dan Green’s “The Hunt,” from ANIMAL MAN, in addition to “Raise Dem Bones,” from the New 52 SWAMP THING by JUSTICE LEAGUE writer Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette, plus “Death in a Small Town,” featuring Detective Chimp and Shadowpact.
>THE FLASH 100-Page Giant #1 features an all-new tale of the Scarlet Speedster, written by Gail Simone (BIRDS OF PREY, SECRET SIX, PLASTIC MAN) with art by Clayton Henry (BLACK LIGHTNING: COLD DEAD HANDS). In the 12-part arc “Glass Houses,” Barry Allen is dedicated to keeping the streets of Central City safe as the Fastest Man Alive. But when his old foe Mirror Master shows up looking to cause trouble, it’s up to the Flash to stop him. This book also debuts classic tales of the New 52 version of the Flash by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato, in addition to the spacefaring adventures of Adam Strange from 2004 by Andy Diggle and Pasqual Ferry, plus the classic New 52 “rebirth” of the World’s Mightiest Mortal, Shazam, from Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
>Both the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA and TEEN TITANS Giants will retain their same contents but continue with new cover titles and will be renumbered with #1 issues. The JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA 100-Page Giant becomes WONDER WOMAN 100-Page Giant #1, continuing the original Wonder Woman story by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Tom Derenick and Chad Hardin, with “flashback” stories from Geoff Johns’ New 52 JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN, plus 2006’s “Who Is Wonder Woman?” by Allan Heinberg, Rachel Dodson and Terry Dodson.
>The TEEN TITANS 100-Page Giant continues as TITANS 100-Page Giant #1, with BATMAN BEYOND writer Dan Jurgens continuing his original story with art by Scot Eaton and Wayne Faucher. In addition, the book will continue the ongoing reprint stories from Geoff Johns and Tom Grummett’s TEEN TITANS from 2004, Peter Tomasi’s SUPER SONS from 2017’s DC Rebirth and Kenneth Rocafort, Dan DiDio’ and Max Raynor’s SIDEWAYS from the New Age of Heroes.
>Each 100-page comic sells for $4.99 and are available in more than 3,000 participating Walmart retailers in the United States. To find the one nearest you, use the Walmart store finder.

SUPERMAN GIANT #7 HAS LOIS LANE BEING TORTURED AND MURDERED REPEATEDLY FOR 12 PAGES
http://archive.is/8Zs4y
>The latest Walmart exclusive 100-page giant comic book, Superman Giant #7, is stirring quite a bit of buzz on the internet, but not with excitement for the Tom King-penned story. Instead, it's the repeated torture and murder of Lois Lane across the issue's pages that have fans in an uproar.
>The issue, which officially went on sale in select Walmart stores today, sees King paired up with artist Andy Kubert on a Superman story that sees the Man of Steel languishing in an intergalactic waiting room.
>While there, his mind begins to wander to some dark places – presumably out of anxiety. How dark are those places? It seems that the issue contains 12 pages of Lois Lane's brutal and graphic murder over and over again, including an opening splash page that sees Lois gruesomely shot in the head by Lex Luthor.
>As many online have noted, the Walmart exclusive books are intended as entry-level books for readers many of which are children. The books are merchandised in most of the store that carry them alongside child-friendly games, such as Pokémon cards and many of the reactions on Twitter are coming from parents who don't feel they can share the issue with their kids.
Looks like King went overboard with his PTSD and anxiety shtick. It's interesting how DC will react this time. They went all into panic mode after the batdick incident.

He worked for CIA and was in Iraq, although some people question that. King is also obsessed with PTSD and to a lesser degree with nihilism. Sooner or later it usually becomes a major part of his books.
He is also likes to shoehorn nine panel grid, regardless of whether it works for the story or artists' style. So King is either dumb enough to think that nine panel grid will make his book more like Watchmen and thus automatically better, he is autistically obsessed with nine panels and can't help himself, does not quite understand the medium of comics, or any combination of the above.

>Fans who haven’t been able to find 100-Page Giant comics at their local Walmart retailer can breathe a sigh of relief, as DC confirmed its plans today to make available in comic book shops for the first time the original stories that formed the basis for their line of Walmart “Giant” anthology comics. Each story arc comes in the form of a six-issue monthly miniseries featuring two chapters per issue.
>The fireworks start early on July 3, with SUPERMAN: UP IN THE SKY #1, written by Tom King (BATMAN) with art by Andy Kubert and Sandra Hope. Following a home invasion that ends in murder, Superman is put on the trail of a Metropolis mystery by Batman—but can even the Man of Steel discover the truth behind these tragic deaths, or their ties to the far-off world of Rann?
>The action continues July 10 with Brian Michael Bendis and Nick Derington teaming up for BATMAN UNIVERSE #1. Following the theft of a priceless Fabergé egg, the Riddler leads The Dark Knight on a wild hunt after its true owner: Jinny Hex, a descendant of the haunted Western hero Jonah Hex. Deathstroke, Green Arrow and some of the brightest stars in the DC Universe will join The Dark Knight on the chase to find this treasure!
>Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and Chad Hardin combine their powerhouse talents on a new adventure featuring the Amazon Princess Diana in WONDER WOMAN: COME BACK TO ME #1, on sale July 17. When Steve Trevor is called in for a test flight of an experimental new aircraft, he winds up lost in the Bermuda Triangle—and it’s up to Wonder Woman and Etta Candy to follow his trail to a mysterious and savage island.
>Each miniseries will also feature brand-new cover art from Andy Kubert (SUPERMAN: UP IN THE SKY), Amanda Conner (WONDER WOMAN: COME BACK TO ME) and Nick Derington (BATMAN UNIVERSE). (See >>1055303 for these first issue covers)
