The problem with his mode of thought is that person wants to create these mental categories that simply do not align with reality. He wants to think, if everyone were to follow the cult leader that he has chosen, things would be fine, if everyone would just go along with him, and that therefore, he is somehow not complicit in sin and denial of God. When the reality is, his own community that he has chosen are just as bad if not worse. They promote sodomy, filth and all kinds of lasciviousness. But like north koreans living under the Kim family, they train themselves to ignore that. To make themselves the heroes of the narrative, the personality cult externalize everything onto outward "imperialists" which do not actually exist in the real world. The problems they are causing to themselves are blamed on an outward group.
