Is Dyeus Phater of the Indo-Europeans (and his various manifestations as Zeus, Jupiter, Thor, and Dyaus Pitr/Indra, etc.) God the Father? Paul does apply a hymn to Zeus to God:

>For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also his offspring.'

>Acts 17:28

>They fashioned a tomb for you, holy and high one [Zeus],

>Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies.

>But you are not dead: you live and abide forever,

(Paul also quotes the second line of that same passage in Titus 1:12)

ancient pagans weren't really polytheists, if you read hindu philosophy and neoplatonism which is the theory or theology if you will, behind those 'pagan' religions you realize they believe in only one 'absolute' which is synonymous with 'God', in a sense strict monotheism is merely a formality.

Polytheist or being monotheist doesnt stop them from being pagan.

Their practices and what they do basically determines that.
