2: One can come into partial communion with divinity through the supranatural disparity produced as the essence acts upon creation

3: This state of acting upon creation is an uncreated emanation of the essence and hence shares in its being in some form that excludes the totality of essence

Please help me understand his theology as opposed to Thomism.

I find these post a bit like mice trying to understand quantum mechanics.

Look, God gave us the Catholic Church. We humans are too small to figure it out by ourselves. God manipulates this world at the sub-atomic level by pushing particles around at the Heisenberg level. My God! The intelligence required to do that!

Just believe what the Church says! It's like engineering paper I give to the shop people to carry out. I can't explain it to them WHY it has to be this way because it would require more than 4 years of engineering school. Just do it, it works.

The difference is orthodoxy, since there is no such thing as Palamism, is done by ascetics like Moses, Elias, Paul, Cyril, John of Damascus and Gregory Palamas and not by fat pigs like Luther and Aquinas. Knowledge of God is an activity, thus without practice, like gluttons clearly don't pratice the faith, there can be no knowledge or title of theologian.

In orthodoxy, energies are synonym with Grace, Light, Works, Activity and all activity is done by persons. You first need to understand what is the difference of person and essence and what does it mean to say all activity is personal. Read Basil's letter 38.
