Different Bibles are interesting in how different they are.

Catholics only have a few Bibles, Trad Catholics even fewer, but we have libraries of commentary like the Summa Theologica, Lives of Saints, City of God and so on to expand our understanding of the Bible.

No. Schaff was an Editor. If you actually have the set, the entire project was a lot of men. And while Protestants, they were mostly Anglican. But one of them famously converted to Roman Catholicism afterwards: John Henry Newman. He did most of the work translating Athanasius. He went on to being canonized a Catholic saint in later years.

Indeed. We're in agreement then. I'm just saying, it's physically impossible for one man to create 30 volumes in a span of a decade.. or even two men. I wanted to just point that out. All translated out of multiple languages at that. Some of these texts were published separately originally. This set pooled all of the work being done by dozens of scholars, and put it in one set. Most of were Anglicans who were part of a growing Anglo-Catholic movement that was curious about pre-Reformation history. Which is why Newman found himself converting not long after.

As to the topic at hand, I keep many copies of various Bibles, but most of them are digital. I cannot afford to lug around that many physical books except for a few less common publications, like Greenfield's original 1829 Greek lexicon of the New Testament. Books like that are easier to just buy, when the scans do not already exist. Having scans of several different editions of the TR and Bible editions is very useful in addition to searchable databases. In a somewhat related note, The guy in OP pic made a highly misleading video about Acts 8:37 where he misleadingly claimed it does not affect any doctrine.

I have:

- a Douay-Rheims Bible that I use for reading

- a pocket New Catholic Translation NT

- a hardback KJV

- a pocket, worn-out KJV

- an HCSB

- a pocket ESV Gospel of John

Most of them were gifts. I think that a lot of people who aren't collectors or theologians who own a lot of Bibles receive most of them as gifts.

My brother, as a young boy, went to the nuns one day and excitedly told them about the bible he got at the Billy Graham revival meeting.

They burned his KJV and chewed him out! The only reason he didn't get a wack across the knuckles by the nuns or a good beating by the Brothers was because our Uncle was the Parish Priest.

I only have a KJV bible in my house because my wife is a protestants. I returned to the Catholic faith long after we were married and Father said I can't burn the KJV because it's not mine.
