I have been noticing Lovecraft fans and horror fans in general far less Fedora tipping than a lot of genres like steampunk/cyberpunk recently. In fact, that's the first depiction of the typical image of humanoid angels with wings (usually they'd pose as normal humans. While Cherubim were the ones usually described with many wings). In this case, they were female agents of God somehow, if not the typical angel that Michael or Gabriel is. So don't be so reactionary. Just because some heathen accepts an idea doesn't mean you need to reject it outright. Just read the scriptures and you'll be fine.

yes they're most certainly different from Humans, Ezekiel chapter 1 certainly lays that out.
But you know what it doesn't say? they're terrifying malformed beasts. it describes the majesty and Sheer ingenious of God. of course a mere mortal would be freaked out by it but not because it's meant to scare the ever living hell out of you but because it different. and Humans are naturally built by God to be cautious of different things.
at-least that's my Opinion.
also on the fear of God part, he wants us to fear him like we fear the Punishment of our earthly fathers, not to be Shivering in fear hiding in the Corner hoping God doesn't smite us down.
