If you're a women then just play hard to get and be clearly distant in that area. If you're a guy it should be easier since you're initiating the advances most of the time, and get to decide what happens. Just say no to advances or that you want to take things slow..

Just be honest and open about it. Look at being persecuted for waiting for marriage as a blessing, instead of a curse. If that person is genuine, they will respect it and your boundaries. One thing is for sure, you will find out quickly, whether they are the right one or not.

You know, I don't mind that most people find it funny when I tell them, but I sometimes have gotten the feeling that I'm seen as flaunting my "virtues". I'm already too proud and at constant risk of arrogance, so I thought maybe I should find a way to be quieter about these things.

Judging by your choice of picture and fear of being approached, I'll assume you're a lass OP. Just tell them you're "not interested in hook-ups"; most men will give up and move on, and framing the issue as being "hook-up culture" rather than chastity should allow you to fly under the radar. Ah, my bad. My advice still applies nevertheless; I've used the "not into hook-ups" line a couple of times on women who wouldn't take a simple "no" for an answer, and it works just fine.
