I'm bi so I kinda of understand this. I have these temptations I don't want to fulfill because it's against God's will. We can go over why we have them and probably figure it out, but none of that matters. We're running the race for God. Jesus says we are to deny ourselves, lay down our lives and carry our cross and go after him. Perhaps at this time that's what God wants from you? Talk to Him, listen to Him, poor out your heart to Him. Read your Bible, worship, pray and listen for God every day. Talk to Him. He listens to you and wants to hear from you also. I believe God is inviting you into a closer relationship than most will understand. God wants to fill the void you're feeling in a unique way.

Also bi so i sorta get this. First of all, are you called to be a father? Maybe you are called to a different vocation, i always have wondered about how many fags joined religious life to focus on God proportionally when people didnt encourage faggotry. Also, consider your surroundings. People who literally think you choose to be gay or dont "understand the stuggle" should be avoided - as should people who encourage homosexual actions. Temptation will always exist, and you should fight it. But eventually there may come a time where you offer yourself up fully to God, and you won't have to think of it this way. I second this. My experience doesn't match yours, so anything I say would be quite general. I think you'd get a lot more out of talking to someone who's been through this or reading/listening to their perspective. Maybe Joseph Sciambra? He's quite active in social media and has a blog on the subject. I think he was in The Third Way documentary which interviews several people who left active homosexual lifetime behind for Christianity.

I think I understand why so many faggots are attracted to liberalism. Having a weird fetish of any kind can cause a lot of shame. And even after I saw surveys proving the ones I have are actually seen as acceptable by a majority of people it still feels bad and if you can't properly handle it by accepting God's infinite love then a movement encouraging "pride" in the perversion seems like an enticing cope. There's nothing unique with you for having lustful desires. It is something almost every man must face at one point in their life. It isn't sinful to experience same-sex attraction just as it isn't sinful to be attracted to the opposite sex. Similarly in both of these cases premarital sex is sinful. The main difference is opposite sex attraction can eventually result in two people becoming one in marriage and have a sexual relationship the way God intended. Two men or two woman cannot achieve this.

So, I'm the middle guy there. Anyways, first off, good thing you know me better than you do. I understand you're saying don't walk in that identity, but there's a little more to it than you understand.

Second off, your advice, while "nice" is actually bad and wrong. You say it's an insecurity issue, but that's not it at all. That's a simple misdiagnosis.

For most gay men, I can tell you three questions to ask and realize what made them develop these tendencies. A little background, first:

1. Men are either sensitive or rough-and-tumble. There's little in between on these issues.

2. It's not masculinity which is the driver of this, necessarily. We all know of big, buff homosexual men. Seinfeld had a joke that Kramer wasn't in good enough shape to be gay. So, this isn't uncommon. So, what you are suggesting as ways to fight it don't address the root cause of it which is not insecurity.

Now, as to why some may become gay. Think of gays you know and grew up with and you can probably see a pattern here:

1. His father was absent, either emotionally or physically, during their childhood;

2. He had more female friends growing up than male.

3. He is sensitive.

1. These play a significant role because you need to have a father figure who you attach to and learn how to be a man from as you mature.

2. The having female friends is because when you hit puberty and you didn't have the father figure or male friends, you are drawn to the "mystery." And the "mystery" is not girls, because you grew up with them, but instead boys because of that awkward development.

3. The sensitive issue then deals with how you are mentally. If sensitive, then you'll be drawn to men, if not then you'll look for companionship with women and sleep around a lot.

The problem is, there is no guarantee that God wants to get rid of this and you enforce the idea that if he follows your path, he will likely, but the alternative you present is not good.

First off, there are people like Sam Allberry who experience this and have prayed to be healed, but it hasn't happened. Many people forget that Paul prayed for the thorn to be removed and God said in his weakness, His strength is made perfect. Therefore, Paul said, he would boast in the Lord that his power may rest upon him.

Secondly, what you suggested to do doesn't work because it doesn't address the core problem, but even then it provides a potential for false hope. Like I said, perhaps God doesn't want to heal him.

OP, the thing is, I understand the desire for a family and all these things. These are admirable things, they are righteous things, but at the same time, they may not be what God has for you. The thing is, I got to help others, also.

Jesus says that we are to deny ourselves daily, we need to pick up our cross and follow after Him if we want Him. That's what I've done and God has used me to help others and I'm thankful I have been able to.

Another thing that's missed by people is that we are the hands and feet of Jesus, we go where He calls us to spread His word. With that, there's something else special, Paul talked about how he became all things to all people. I'm a metalhead, so I've talked to a lot of metalheads and evangelized some. I'm a politics nut, so I've evangelized in that realm some. But also, I have these attractions and I've evangelized in that area too. God is using me. Where I am weakest, God's strength is made perfect and I am His hands and feet to bring the gospel to those who desperately need it. So, I say to you, talk to God, pour out your heart, listen to Him, listen for His heartbeat, and hear what He has to say to you. Maybe God will heal you of this, maybe he won't, but what I do know is God is drawing You in because He has something special and unique for you alone and He wants to have a relationship with You.

People don't really choose what they're attracted to. Twin studies and genetic research suggests there's a genetic component. Neurological research shows a structural variation more like the opposite sex in regions related to attraction suggesting an epigenetic partial feminization/masculinization in the womb due to hormone surges as we know can happen in other organisms and lead to lasting behavior changes. There's also the birth order effect for gay men, that is the more male children a woman has the more likely later ones are to be gay.

Even conversion therapy camps are usually pretty honest, though they don't advertise, about the fact that they don't really "cure" you, just try to help you repress with explicitly non-scientific "therapy". This is supported by ancedotes of people who keep going to such camps again and again seeking some salvation they never quite find and the number of them that still have gay encounters on the down low.
