Went to a black Baptist church in the south when I was a kid, now I'm thinking about converting to Orthodoxy. I feel myself being called back to my home continent, especially in these times. I want to escape from it all, I want to return to natural living and become a monk. Should I do it? I am willing to give up everything, I just can't stand the world anymore. I desire a return to paradise and union with God's grace. I desire to be alone that I might contemplate the mysteries of God everyday all day and strive towards salvation.

Probably check out Ethiopian Orthodoxy before you head over there would be the best bet.
>I desire to be alone
If their monasticism is anything like Eastern Orthodoxy don't expect to be a hermit or recluse right away. You will have to learn obedience as a novice and will live with the other monks until the Abbot feels you are ready. It could be many years sometimes.

I don't believe you
That's a very bad way to think about theology. Ethiopians have a very different system than what you know.
If you can safely return to your ancestral home you should do so. There is a lot of gospel movement in Africa.

I'm glad, that you've come to the light of Christs Church, my brother. But Monasticism is a very big choice to make. In the US, most monasteries will not accept you if you are below the age of 30. I would recommend waiting until you are at least that age before making a decision (assuming you are not 30 or older already). If that is truly what your heart desires, then I would support you in your endeavors to become a monk. Just be warned that monastic life is very difficult.
May God guide you.

Maybe start by going to an orthodox church and visiting monasteries. A ladder can only be climbed a step at a time, you know.
