Is it primarily a psychological myth about the origins of evil in human nature? I also noticed a lot of Genesis lines up pretty well with the agricultural revolution that happened about 10,000 years ago, the rise of cities and such from Cain and then later Noah invents wine after the deluge (the ice glaciers melting after the last ice age 11,500 years ago). Is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil symbolic for pride? That man thought he could be equal to God by trying to attain knowledge thus losing his natural innocence?

Why is it so hard to take God at His word for some people? Why does everything have to be allegory and completely non-literal? Naturalism is cancer.

Because the narrative itself demands it. We are taking God at his word. Most of the Old Testament is an allegory for Christ. Reading it 100% is Jewish.

It's history. It's written in historical prose. The new testament authors treat it as history.

We can neither comprehend our state before the Fall nor after the Ressurection of the Dead.
Your view goes against that by supposing that the book of Genesis is a poetic veil for something understandable.

The entire universe was made by the hand of God. Nothing is wrong with studying the work of God the Father Almighty.
