When the sexual scandals of the Church is brought up to you, how do you respond (assuming it is an honest inquiry in respectful discourse)? What about the violence of it's past? If you think the violence of the past is wrong, how do you deal with being a representative of it in a way? Carrying on it's legacy.

>When the sexual scandals of the Church is brought up to you, how do you respond

They're homosexual pederasts that generally are very heterodox in their teaching. They never would have joined the priesthood if it was as rigorous as before.

>What about the violence of it's past

If we burned sodomites at the stake again (like Saint Pius V did), so many children would stop being hurt by them.

>how do you deal with being a representative of it in a way? Carrying on it's legacy.

I carry on the truth of the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church, outside of which there is absolutely no salvation.

Church was justified in its actions against witchcraft and sexual deviants. Look at the state of things today and that is evidence enough.

As far as moments it will be remembered on par with the corrupt era where people were literally buying Papal appointments and the Arian heresy combined with a splash of schism.

>When the sexual scandals of the Church is brought up to you, how do you respond

Well, it's almost always said as an insult, so it generally doesn't deserve a well thought answer. In case it's a sincere and respectful inquiry, you can point out that (i) corrupt people are everywhere, the fact that there are pedophile doctors and teachers doesn't mean you shoud stop going to hospitals and schools; (ii) abuse is almost done by adult men onto pubescent boys, so it's clearly a homosexual issue, and (iii) it is always blown out of proportion by the secularist media - for instance, I am not even American, but the press in my country always reports when someone accuses an American priest of something that supposedly happened several years ago - that doesn't happen in regards to other cases of abuse.

Do you think that because the Saint did so it is alays good to do so or ever?

Was this state averted only by the violence against them?

This is a good answer, I'll use it, thank you.

I bring up statistics.

>Compared to the general population Catholic Priests are at or less than the general population. I can't find a decisive figure for the percentages of either. So we'll use the worst stat I can find of 4% of Catholic priests are pedophiles. The general population is estimated to be 3.0%-5.2% pedophiles. And this is likely to be much higher as a lot of people won't admit to being pedophiles. And if we look at stats about 20% of women and 15% of men were violated as children by an adult, so could be even higher.

>Furthermore, other professionals such as teachers, doctors, lawyers have much higher rates of pedophilia and abuse than the Catholic Priests.

>Other denominations also have similar rates of pedophilia to the Catholic clergy.

>My reason for bringing these last few points up is the fact that it seems only Catholic pedophilia is brought into the media constantly, even if it hasn't even been proven yet. Heck, I'm guilty of not even following abuse stories to the finish so I don't know which priests are guilty.

>Finally and the bit I like to emphasize as most people who bring this up tend to be pro-sodomy. 97.5% of the sexual abuse of minors is done to male children. Priests can only be male. 97.5% of sexual abuse is done by homosexuals. Homosexuals should not be allowed in the Priesthood. If you were to take away the homosexuals that do this abuse the pedophilia rate among priests would drop down so very much that they wouldn't be comparable to the other stats I've brought up before.

>What about the violence of it's past?

>Simply the crusades were justified (aside from the 4th) and Muslim had been screwing over Europe for centuries before they tried to push into Rome and sacked St. Peter's basilica. So they kinda pushed Catholics into the crusades. they should have helped their brothers much sooner, and also put an end to Islam while they were at it

>Inquisitions: Just do some research it's grossly over-exaggerated. Protestant propaganda the most of it. Jewish, Atheist and Protestant scholars attest to this. It was one of the fairest courts in the land that people went out of their way to ask for.

>Burning Witches: We abolished that, and it's brought up much more than it actually happened.

>If you think the violence of the past is wrong, how do you deal with being a representative of it in a way?

I don't.

Even if I did, it doesn't change the fact this is God's Church and the sins of its people doesn't change that fact.

They wanted to but the catholic nations were so poor they couldn't help before, the only powerful state at the time was the byzantine empire and they got btfo so..

Do you realise how many of your ancestors over millennia were rapists? How many were murderers?

How do you deal with being a representative of them in a way? Carrying on their legacy.

There are truly repentant men suffering from SSA who have a calling to the priesthood. It is indeed a burden but one that God helps with through grace. A blanket ban would give these people who need compassion and support another closed door, and make them feel like God does not want them even though they have a lot to offer to the church. The problem is men with SSA who see it as "born this way" or they simply choose the priesthood because they know they'll never get married. These are both good reasons to deny someone imho (not that I'm a bishop or anything.) Please don't think I'm defending sodomy because I am not.

>Do you think that because the Saint did so it is always good to do so or ever?

The idea of canonizing someone is that his life is a good example of heroic virtues. In theory, the work of a theologician saint is recommendable to read, the government of a saint king may be great to imitate and the same goes for the measures a saint pope took in a crisis in the Church.

That's why neither John XXIII, Paul VI and JPII should be canonized.

>There are truly repentant men suffering from SSA who have a calling to the priesthood.

Wrong. There are truly repentant men suffering from SSA who FEEL they have a calling to the priesthood, but those who have SSA should not go into the priesthood, none of them, ever, end of story. Even the current pope said so.

>A blanket ban would give these people who need compassion and support another closed door, and make them feel like God does not want them

There is already a blanket ban in place, it isn't being enforced.

>make them feel like God does not want them

>feel

Ordaining sodomites to avoid hurting their feelings would be reprehensibly irresponsible. The stakes are heaven and hell for God's flock, this is life and death, it isn't about avoiding hurt feelings.

> even though they have a lot to offer to the church.

Sodomites have a lot to offer Satan too, just look at the current state of the Church.

I was thinking of going to seminary, but my SSA issues made me realise I should not go; we must stay away from all unnecessary temptations, which means all.
