Meaning of chapter 33, verse 3 in the book of enoch?
>I saw there heavenly gates opening into heaven; three of them distinctly separated. The northern winds proceeded from them, blowing cold, hail, frost, snow, dew, and rain.
We all know the number 33 and 3, is important to many groups and many different aspects of the bible. From freemasons, to jesus himself. we have the trinity, 3 ways of finding god by asking, seeking, knocking. jesus prayed 3 times before his arrest and was put on the cross at the 3rd hour of the day, died at the 9th hour (3pm). 3 hours of darkness that covered the land. 3 is the number of resurrection. he was dead for 3 days and 3 nights. Just to name a few..
So, now we have the 3rd verse of chapter 33 in the book of enoch, and it references 3 gates to heaven, with all different types of maelstrom associated with them.
What is the meaning /christian/?
Thanks.

Do you honestly think it had chapter and verse divisions at the time it was written?

It's describing an outdated cosmology of where wind blows from on the literal sense, but as the word of God is inspired by spiritual forces, there is another sense. I don't know what it means but I'd like to learn, we can begin by looking in the OT about who dwells in the north, and other references to it, and Revelation about what comes from the north. God bless in your investigation anon.

it would be interesting to look up every 33:3 and 3:33 in the bible, although keep in mind there was no chapter/verse numbering originally

Why do you do this? Why do you think this has any meaning? Should we also note the meals that we eat 33 times in our lives? Of the 33rd punctuation symbol?

Going by the verses before it and after it. It sounds like a very fancy way of saying winds from the North are cold. If I am correct the Ice Age was ending at about the time Enoch is supposed to have taken place so it would make sense.

the Bible actually quotes The book of Enoch
13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”[e] 16 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

St Paul also quotes Greek philosophers does that mean Greek philosophy ( as known in ancient Pagan times) is canon?
