you're probably concerned with Heb 6:4-6
<For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
<5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
<6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame. (Heb. 6:4-6 NAS)
The best I can say is that these people weren't saved, since they were unrenewed, but they were still partakers of the Spirit. "Partakers of the spirit" must have some application to unsaved people. Maybe it's the same group as this:
<21 Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
<22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
<23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.' (Matt. 7:21-23 NAS)
>Can you explain salvation to me like I'm a child?
God created man at the beginning of time. Adam was the first man, but he sinned and the world was cursed. To sin is to disobey God. In every generation since then, every man has sinned. The punishment for the sins we commit is eternity in Hell, but God graciously provided a means to forgiveness. He sent His son to be born as man and live the perfect life that no-one else could. Jesus was killed as a sacrifice to atone for all sin ever committed. He was buried, then resurrected three days later.
Since Jesus did this for us, all we have to do is trust in Him to be saved from damnation just like the Bible says. We will die here, but go to heaven until we are also physically resurrected when God brings about the new creation.
