Luke 11:27-28

>And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

>But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

What did Christ mean by this, honestly. I'm still having trouble acknowledging the idea that Mary should be deified. Help me out guys?

Everyone who hears the word of God and keeps those things which are written therein, is blessed moreso than if they were being in Jesus' biological family. See Luke 8:21.

>(Luke 11:27-28)

<And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. (Luke 1:28 KJV)

interesting, the way the KJV has Luke 1:28 makes a contradiction,

but other translations don't have that part.

explain yourselves, KJV/TR-onlyists

That's what I mean. There are some contradictions in the Bible regarding the "purity", if you will, of Mary. I don't know what to do. I made the mistake of reading a thread dedicated to something like this on /pol/, and now I'm perplexed as to what I should believe.

That's not a contradiction. Jesus has a certain way of speaking. He's has a contrarian streak at times. He's not saying that Mary's isn't blessed; he's emphasizing that those who hear and keep the word of God are blessed.

She is blessed because she has faith.

>Luke 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.

>Mark3:1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand. 2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. 3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

That's a contradiction, and I demand an explanation from the Masoretic Textists.

"Among" NOT "Above"

0b651f No.564782

Mary is blessed not just because she bore Jesus, but by her continued and unfailing obedience. She heard when the Gabriel said "Hail, full of Grace" and she obeyed when she said "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word". Her obedience extends far beyond these events, however this is sufficient to explain the passage.

Doesn't the immaculate conception also absolve her of the original sin?

e4a239 No.564785

>>564784

Original sin is lack of grace. I presume that you really meant was concupiscence, inward tendency to sin. By immacualte conception mary had ethier but so did Jeremias and John the Baptist. That does not mean that one in that state is willless, for Adam and Eve had no orginal sin nor concupiscence and yet sinned.

God doesn't stop working on the sabbath.

Or as Christ said: "What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?" (Matthew 12:11)

>Christ has a specific personality

>No, you are wrong. Jesus Christ is 1% human and 100% God, which is why he doesn't have human characteristics and personalities
