I read some of it years back. Thought it was decent, at least pre-timeskip. Main issue I have is that, from memory, the earlier parts of the manga had an ugly style to the characters, reflecting how they weren't exactly attractive in looks or personality (especially Haruo), and I'm not sure how well, or if, the anime adaptation will try to render that (and for all I know it's the sort of thing that works better as still panels than motion).

I only try out seasonal stuff if it blows up and is really different from whatever else has been airing that year, like Pop Team Epic or Darling in the Franxx.
So me personally I'd like to see more threads on either meta subjects or older shows but I guess that just doesn't interest people. I tried making an Utena thread but it's a 20 year old show and I guess people would rather talk about shows where they cannot expect what's going to happen in the next episode rather than something that has already aired in its entirety.
I've always hated this mentality of anime fans of today, it seems like a lot of people just watch anime to be able to talk about it and socialise with people also watch it rather than because they actually find it interesting/engaging. Watched Back Street Girls, it was almost a straight adaptation of the manga panels with barely any animation. It was an okay first episode but I just wasn't prepared for the lack of animation.

I only stumbled across this board a few days ago, and I'm gonna try and do my part to help keep it active. I can't stand /a/'s constant shitting on everything (I don't care if it's "board culture," it's obnoxious), so /animu/ appeals to me. You guys are alright.
So far I'm three for three on anime I've picked up. Tonegawa was hilarious, I dunno if the rest of the manga is comedic but it's sure to be an interesting look at one of the best Kaiji characters. I'm liking the action and plot in Banana Fish so far, it's looking well done. And Chio-Chan was pretty funny and relatable. Hataraku Saibou is up next for me.

I just drop a show if I don't like it, so the constant negativity drives me nuts as well. The only time I don't mind it is when a show is a legitimate trainwreck that is still fun to watch, something like Cross Ange or Valvrave. I think a good example of an obscure, anime-themed imageboard that is both fun and doesn't have constant paranoid users/mods is Tohnochan.
