The way the clans all work through a yakuza system (cup-exchange, father/sibling/child relationship) did a better job than expected of filling out the usually-skipped-over background of how these primitive screwheads get their shit done.

I wonder what shitty genre will replace isekai once the fad dies.

This is why I liked Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni even though the MC was a huge Mary Sue. He actually goes the harem route after God and a goddess of love convince him to stop being limited by the morality of his homeworld. There's no reason the MC of Hyakuren shouldn't fuck each and every girl in his harem, especially since marriage is still one of the quickest and easiest ways to solve disputes between nations or factions within a nation.

I dropped that after two episodes, but mostly because I was moving at the time and it just got left behind because it wasn't one of the top shows that season. Should I go back and finish it? It did seem pretty generic.

The only really good thing about it is also the worst thing about it: the MC. He's generic as fuck, but he also has a tendency to use the simplest and most logical solution to his problems. For example, one of the first things he does when he learns certain spells is to make a gun to be even more overpowered in a world of sword and sorcery. It was a breath of fresh air to see an MC that does what the viewer is probably thinking. His harem is also fairly high tier and includes twins and a 12 year old who makes it very clear that she wants his dick. I can't call it a good show, but it was at least entertaining.

No way. That title goes to…that one isekai whose name I can't even remember from two or so seasons ago. One of the few things I remember is that the MC's name was Satoo and his harem included a loli who had been reincarnated from a dead Japanese girl or something like that. It just did absolutely nothing new or fun with the genre. We didn't get nice tits like in Hyakuran, we didn't get interesting use of his overpowered skills like in Smartphone, we didn't get catgirl abuse like in the other isekai this season, we didn't get maximum edge like in Re: Zero. It was a whole lot of nothing. This show is at least giving us some hot girls.
